Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays homage to Mingun Pahtodawgyi, donates cash to Kathina robe offering ceremony at Tipitaka Nikaya Monastery

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, accompanied by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army), Commander of Central Command Brig-Gen Kyaw Swa Lin and officials, arrived at ancient Pahtodawgyi in Mingun region of Sagaing Region where they offered flowers,water and oil lights to the Buddha Image at the Pahtodawgyi.

The Senior General and wife donated cash to the fund for all-round renovation of Pahtodawgyi to the board of trustees. On arrival at Tipitaka Nikaya Monastery where the cash donation for Kathina robes was held,the Senior General and wife offered alms in the emerald alms-bowl, flowers, water and oil lights to the Buddha image in the precinct of lecture school of Tipitaka Nikaya.

The Senior General and wife together with members took the Nine Precepts from Golden Jubilee Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika Bhaddanta Vamsapalalankara and listened to Metta Sutta recited by members of the Sangha.The Senior General and wife donated Kathina robes and offertories to Bhaddanta Vamsapalalankara while senior military officers and the commander presented provisions to members of the Sangha.

The Senior General and wife presented cash to be spent on Kathina offering ceremony.Chairman of Tipitaka Nikaya Missionary Upathaka Group U Kyaw Myint accepted the cash donation and returned a certificate of honour. After Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vamsapalalankara has delivered a sermon,the congregation shared merits gained. Later,the Senior General and party offered day meals to members of the Sangha.

The Senior General and party proceeded to Shwesin Tipitaka Monastery at Dhammanada Monastery. They paid homage and donated offerings to Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika Bhaddanta Gandhamalalankara. The Senior General and wife presented cash for nine pre-requisites to an official of the board of trustees who returned a picture of Mingun Tipitakadhara Abbot and a certificate of honour.

On arrival at the Mingun Tipitaka centennial monastery built in commemoration of the centennial birthday of Mingun Tipitakadhara Abbot, the Senior General and party viewed round images of the Mingun Tipitaka Abbot and documentary photos on religious affairs.The Senior General and party went to the monastery where the Mingun Tipitaka Abbot compiled Great Buddhological Treatises and paid homage to the image of the abbot. They then observed utensils of the abbot, religious titles of the abbot, his religious treatises and scale model of structure where the abbot lived.The Senior General instructed officials to preserve the monastery for its long existence,manage preventive measures for fire, substitute the images of the abbot with silicon ones for existence, and publish documentary photos on biography of the abbot.

At Mingun Buddhist Home for the Aged,the Senior General greeted the aged in individuals, comforted them and presented foodstuffs. The Senior General and wife presented cash donation to the chair of the home for the aged who returned a certificate of honour.

Afterwards, the Senior General and party visited Mingun Bell and advised officials to do tasks for long term existence of the bell.The Mingun Bell cast in the time of King Bodaw, weighing 55,555 viss or about 90 tons of bronze, is the second largest one in the world.
