Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing,accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief (Navy)Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air)General Maung Maung Kyaw,senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), the commander of Southern Command and officials, visited and paid homage to the historic Shwenattaung Pagoda in Shwetaung Town, Bago Region, this morning.
First, the Senior General and wife paid homage and offered flowers and water to the Buddha image of the pagoda and went round the pagoda clockwise.
The Senior General and wife made cash donations to the pagoda board of trustees for all-round pagoda renovation.The pagoda board of trustees presented them with a picture of the pagoda as a Dhamma gift. Then, the Senior General gave advice on the keeping of a historical record of the ancient pagoda with firm evidence,systematic keeping of records on the activities of successive pagoda boards of trustees and seeking consultation with experts in the all-round renovation tasks and signed the guestbook.
