Cultural troupe of Lao People’s Armed Forces performs to honour the 75th anniversary (diamond jubilee) of Armed Forces Day 2020

A cultural troupe of the Lao People’s Armed Forces performed this afternoon at the Thabin Hall of Zeyathiri Beikman here as a gesture of strengthening the friendship between the two militaries of Myan-mar and Lao, exchanging culture and hailing the 75th anniversary (diamond jubilee) of Armed Forces Day which will fall on 27 March 2020. Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing watched the performance.

Also present on the occasion together with the Senior General were his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut and wife, Union Minister for Defence Lt-Gen Sein Win, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung and wife, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, leader of the Lao People’s Armed Forces’ cultural troupe deputy head of Military Propagranda and Training Department of the Lao People’s Armed Forces Colonel Khamkheun LEUTSAVAY and senior military officers, Lao Military Attaché to Myanmar Colonel Touy Vilaketh and officers and other ranks from offices and departments of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and their families.

Colonel Khamkheun LEUTSAVAY extended greetings, and the Lao cultural troupe performed songs and dances to hail the diamond jubilee of Armed Forces Day as well as Lao cultural songs and dances and Myanmar songs.

After the performance, the Senior General and wife presented a bouquet and cash award to the Lao cultural troupe.

Laos and Myanmar are friendly neighbours and the relations between the two armed forces are improving. Under a cultural exchange programme between the two armed forces, the Myanmar Tatmadaw cultural troupe went to Laos in 2011 and 2016 to give performance and also went there in 2018 to honour the 70th Armed Forces Day of the Lao People’s Armed Forces. The cultural troupe of the Lao People’s Armed Forces also visited Myanmar in 2015 to perform and it is now the second time the cultural troupe has come here to honour the diamond jubilee of Armed Forces Day of Myanmar.

While in Myanmar, the Lao cultural troupe will be presenting cultural performances and visiting famous pagodas and significant places.
