Nay Pyi Taw  November  16

Formed with the duty of defending the State, the Tatmadaw must be consolidated, armed with the three capabilities and united. As one country or organization alone cannot exist in the world, it is necessary to coexist. A family will be able to lead a peaceful and prosperous life only if all the family members are united. As Myanmar people have a family spirit, Tatmadaw members, born of the people, also need to be united within their own units and live together in unity with the people. Meanwhile, they must try to increase defence power so that a capable and reliable Tatmadaw can be built, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at separate meetings with officers, other ranks and their families from Kengtung Station in Triangle Region Command and officers, other ranks and trainees from the local advanced military training depot today.

Present at the meetings together with the Senior General were his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and their wives, Triangle Region Command Commander Maj-Gen Khin Hlaing and wife, station com-manders in the command and offi-cers, other ranks and their families and trainees from Kengtung Station and the local advanced military training depot.

In his speech, the Senior General stressed the need for the local regiments and units to have constant training for their defence power as they are tasked with defending the State and ensuring border security. Every country or organization undergoes training, and the Tatmadaw itself needs more enduring training because it has the duty of national defence. Therefore, every soldier must be fit, healthy and strong. Training at various levels is being provided so as to improve the capacity of individual soldiers and to ensure that they are efficient in shouldering their duties and able to do the duties they deserve when promoted to one higher level rank. They have been studying at the same training depot with a brotherly spirit. They then have to return to their respective units and regiments of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) only after the completion of their training, the Senior General said.

A household or family will be able to live a peaceful life if they are financially strong. In the world also, rich and developed countries are enjoying the fruits of peace and development. This is why the Tatmadaw must build up its defence power and capacity to end the internal armed conflict and contribute towards national economic development. Living in unity with the people, doing public welfare tasks and forging unity within the Tatmadaw also mean sharpening skills and capacity. The Tatmadaw must carry out the three major tasks—national defence, training and public welfare. It is necessary to understand that lack of unity between the people and the Tatmadaw must have much impact on national defence power, the Senior General said.

Then, the Senior General gave instructions on nuturing qualified servicemen and building qualified units, saying that it is necessary for servicemen to offer assistance to fulfil the needs of the country as much as possible as each and every personnel, without being urged, has volunteered oneself to join the Tatmadaw with the noble desire of defending the State and the people.Servicemen are required to behave like true servicemen by leading healthy lives, training to be fit and taking necessary measures for fitness every day. Regularly conducting training properly amounts to enhancing the combat capabilities and power of the Tatmadaw.

The Tatmadaw plays a steadfast role in the national politics of the country with united strength. National defence duty must always be performed in accordance with the geographical conditions and peace and political progress of the country. Servicemen are required to perform duty at any time in the event of natural disasters. In conclusion, the Senior General, based on his experience as a junior officer, international experience, and practical and theoretical knowledge, urged the servicemen to try to build the Tatmadaw that meets the criteria and can be relied upon by the people and the country by enhancing the qualifications of individual servicemen.

Afterward, the Senior General presented foodstuffs and household goods produced by factories of the Tatmadaw for officers, other ranks and trainees of the local advanced military training depot to Commandant Brig-Gen Hla Myo and foodstuffs and household goods produced by factories of the Tatmadaw for officers, other ranks and families of Kengtung Station to the commander while Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Senior General, presented cash rewards for the maternal and child welfare association of the station to the wife of the commander.
