Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commission Secretary Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo and his wife, unionministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the chief minister of Magway Region, the commander of Central Command and officials, discussed regional development tasks with departmental offi-cials and town elders in Chauk and Yenangyaung separately this afternoon.
First, the Senior General and his wife arrived at the site, where a sacred tooth relic pagoda will be built, in Ward-5 in Chauk and heard reports on measures being taken to build the sacred tooth relic pagoda in accordance with the instructions of the Senior General and the completion of soil preparations and tests submitted by the district administrator of Chauk.
After hearing the reports, the Senior General gave instructions on building the pagoda according to its standard designs systematically and other needs.
Then, the Senior Generaldi-scussed regional development tasks with departmental officials and town elders in Chauk at the Chauk Township General Administration Department and those in Yenangyaung at the hall of the guest house of the Ministry of Energy in Yenangyaung separately.
At the meetings, district administrator of Chauk District reported to the Senior General on measure being taken to build the sacred tooth relic pagoda, implementation of instructions of the Senior General during his previous visits to Chauk, completion of tasks for the site to construct a highway truck and bus terminal in Chauk, implementation of agriculture and livestock breeding tasks, measures taken to boost production with the use of national economic development funds and tasks carried out for development of education and health sectors in the district. The Yenangyaung township administrator also reported to the Senior General on salient points of the township, land utilization, agriculture and livestock breeding tasks, measures taken for development of health and education sectors, regional development tasks, conservation of underground water and water supply in the township.
Town elders in Chauk reported to the Senior General on the needs to upgrade the people’s hospital in the town, to increase the number of healthcare staff and to build a stadium and expressed thanks for building the sacred tooth relic pagoda to take shelter from heat in the summer in the town, which is located in the dry zone. They also reported to the Senior General on houses built in the oil field in the town. Town elders from Yenangyaung reported to the Senior General on the needs to build a convocation hall in Yenangyaung University, to take measures for the development of Yenangyaung Industrial Zone, to construct a jetty for trade and to carry out maintenance tasks for water-ways.
After hearing the reports, the Senior General said he would take measures to allow residents to reside in the oil field in accordance with rules and regulations and crop yields would increase when sufficient water was supplied to crop fields by implementing river water pumping projects. The Senior General promised to carry out research for mainten-ance tasks along the Ayeyawady River, which flows through Yenangyaung.
Then, the chief minister of Magway Region reported to the Senior General thriving crops in Chauk and Yenangyaung township due to sufficient rainfall this year, measures for supplying enough agricultural water by implementing river water pumping projects and tasks carried out to meet targeted peracre yields of crops.
Afterward, union ministers reported to the Senior General on tasks carried out in respective sectors.
Following his tour, the Senior General stated that during his previous visit to Chauk Township, measures were arranged to reduce the effects of the heat. He clarified that the purpose of his current visit was for regional development, peace, and prosperity. He then reiterated that he has established three mottos: “Let us encourage production for prosperity of the Nation,” “Let us ensure edu-cation sector for the develop-ment of the Nation,” and “Let us protect our environment for the prosperity of the Nation.”
He then addressed the final motto, ” Let us protect our environment for the prosperity of the Nation,” by calling for the mandatory participation of residents in the Chauk and Yenangyaung regions. He stated that each village has been designated to plant a 2-acre fuelwood plantation and that this effort needs to be continuously expanded. He also instructed that if one tree is planted per household annually across all townships, wards, and villages, it would greatly contribute to a lush environment, provide shade, and re-duce the effects of heat. He also stated that by urging residents to ensure the trees are planted and thriving on a ward-by-ward and street-by-street basis before the rainy season ends.
To ensure a sufficient supply of irrigation water for agricultural work, it is necessary to carry out solar-powered river water pumping projects. He stated that by implementing these projects, the region will achieve rice sufficiency and be able to successfully cultivate other crops. He concluded by stressing the importance of working to ensure rice sufficiency in the region.
He stated that the regional economy will greatly improve by being able to sufficiently produce agricultural and farming products. By exporting these products to other regions, the area will generate income. He added that improving pro-duction will lead to the creation of export goods, which in turn will bring significant benefits to the nation.
Regarding the education sector, the Senior General stated that it is necessary to have knowledge and skills for daily life. He explained that these are acquired through class education, and while knowledge can be gained from studying, a formal education leads to a better understanding. Therefore, he called for cooperation to raise the education level and to prevent a decline in class transition rates. He specifically urged the residents of Chauk and Yenangyaung town-ships to cooperate to raise the education level, stating that only an abundance of educated people can contribute to peace and stability in the region.
The Senior General stated that, in line with the motto ” National discipline begins at school,” an individual’s morality and discipline differ based on their school attendance. He highlighted that teachers are like second parents and expressed his desire for them to teach students until the end of their education for a good future. He explained that only educated individuals become youths with good morals and discipline, who can then strive for their own livelihoods. He concluded by calling on residents to work to maintain regional peace and stability with a sense of awareness.
The Senior General announ-ced that the first batch of elections will be held on December 28 of this year in major district cities and nearby towns. He urged all to cooperate with integrity for the successful holding of the election, stating that a successful election is the most important thing in a democracy. He promised that after the election, the duties of the state will be handed over to the winning government. He also advised voters to choose only those who can truly work for the benefit of the nation and the region.
Following the ceremonies, the Senior General warmly greeted the attendees.
