Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently in the People’s Republic of China on his working visit, delivered a speech to families of the Myanmar Embassy and Military Attaché Office in the PRC, scholarship students at the embassy at 5 pm local time this evening.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were members of his entourage Commission Secretary Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Member of the commission Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Member of the commission Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Kyaw Swa Lin and union ministers, Myanmar Ambassador to the PRC U Tin Maung Swe and his wife, Myanmar Military Attaché to the PRC Brig-Gen Zaw Zaw Naing and his wife, families of the embassy and the Military Attaché Office and scholarship students.
First, the ambassador and the military attaché introduced the families of the embassy and Military Attaché Office to the Senior General one by one.
Then, the Senior General delivered a speech, saying he has visited the PRC to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization-SCO Summit 2025 Plus and the military parade marking the 80th Anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War at the invitation of President of the PRC H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping. The opportunity to attend such international events represents positive outcomes for our country.
During the working visit, discussions were held with the President of the PRC, the Prime Minister of India and the President of the LPDR and positive outcomes were achieved. Relations between Myanmar and neighbouring countries are improving. Similarly, Myanmar is cooperating with the members of ASEAN to improve relations with them.
Since regaining independence, Myanmar has undergone different political and economic systems. The Tatmadaw held a multi-party democracy general election in 2010 and paved the way for democratic path. The Tatmadaw is exerting efforts to strengthen the multi-party democracy system. During the term of the first democratic government, efforts were made for strengthening the democracy system while steps were taken to restore internal peace, which is indispensable for adopting the democracy system.
As the Tatmadaw personnel are part of the people and the Tatmadaw is part of the State, the Tatmadaw is striving to firmly continue on the multi-party democracy path desired by the people.
Preparatory work is being carried out to be able to hold the election in the coming December. In doing so, the 2024 Population and Housing Census has been successfully completed. Conducting this census helps to obtain voter lists and also supports the implementation of national development tasks.
Efforts are being made to ensure that all eligible voters can cast their votes. The election will be held in phases based on the stability and peace of respective regions. To ensure there are no errors in the voter lists, the Myanmar Electronic Voting System (MEVM) will be used. This system is also used for voting in other countries. Elections are important in democratic nations, and it is crucial to prevent electoral fraud. Candidates competing in the election should also be educated. During the election, it is necessary to be able to select representatives who will benefit the country and the region.
Regarding the economy, since gaining independence, our country has operated under various political and economic systems. During these times, the national economy declined due to management and flawed policies. During our tenure, efforts have been made for the country’s economic development. Domestic production of goods must be increased. Only then will domestic consumption be sufficient and the surplus can be exported to foreign countries. The country’s economy will only improve if domestic products are successfully produced and increased. The nation’s economy will only prosper if individuals work. To achieve this, a sufficient number of educated human resources with formal education is needed. Knowledge will only increase when formal education improves. The following slogans have been set: “Let us encourage production for prosperity of the Nation.,” “Let us ensure education sector for the development of the Nation.,” and “Let us protect our environment for the prosperity of the Nation.” All people residing in the country have a responsibility for the nation’s development. Just as there are those serving diplomatic duties for bilateral relations, there are also scholars who come to study to serve the interests of the State. Therefore, everyone is urged to cooperatively contribute from their capable side for our country’s development.
Afterwards, the Senior General presented food items and honorarium funds for the Embassy, Attaché Office families, and scholars. The Ambassador and wife, the Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, and the Embassy and Attaché Office families and scholars accepted them.
After the meeting, the Senior General cordially bid farewell to the Embassy and Military Attaché Office families.
