Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union  of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends the honorary certificate presentation and the dinner in honour of the 26th Performing  Arts Competitions

A ceremony to present certificates of honour in conjunction with the dinner to mark the 26th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competitions took place at the Glazier Hall of Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw this evening, attended by Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Also, present at the dinner were Commission Vice-Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Commission member Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Commission member and Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dway, Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief  General Ye Win Oo, commission members, Union ministers,  Union-level dignitaries, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers, members of the Leading Committee, Working Committee and Subcommittees for organizing the competitions, region/ state chief  ministers, maestros of the panel of judges, administrators, trainers, supporting teams, prize winning national brethren, traditional dance troupes from regions and states and officials.

First and foremost, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar stated that the ceremony being held today is an occasion to honor the distinguished and maestro judges and artists, as well as the officials from regions and states who have provided support and assistance with utmost goodwill and dedication for the successful completion of the 26th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competitions.

The Performing Arts Competitions, which plays a significant  role in achieving the noble national objective of preserving and promoting national culture, has been successfully held. The government and the entire nation take pride and share joy with the veteran and distinguished artistes and members of the panel of judges who devoted their utmost talent and effort to the success of this grand competition.

The  Competitions  have been held each year with greater depth, richness, and stronger national significance in both form and substance. The government also wishes to express its deep appreciation and gratitude to all the distinguished scholars and artists who have generously contributed their invaluable knowledge, effort, and enthusiasm to realizing the noble objectives of these competitions more effectively each year.

At present, under the leadership of the government, officials from various relevant sectors are making genuine and determined efforts based on their own capabilities for the progress and development of the nation and its people. In particular, efforts are being made to preserve and promote the fine traditions and cultural heritage of the Myanmar people, while striving to build a united, harmonious, and prosperous nation.

Currently, with the growing openness and freedom, as well as the expansion of modern media, various forms of cultural infiltration have entered and blended into different sectors  a fact well known to all. Therefore, every nation is making efforts to value, preserve, and ensure the lasting continuity of its traditional customs and cultural heritage. National culture is the very lifeblood of a nation and its people. Hence, in this era, it is essential to inspire and encourage the entire population, including the younger generations, to strengthen their resilience and commitment to safeguarding and upholding national culture through the power of the arts.

Myanmar’s traditional arts and cultural crafts have been preserved and handed down from generation to generation by successive masters and artists, allowing them to remain strong and enduring to this day. Throughout Myanmar’s long history spanning thousands of years, generations of great artistes have continuously emerged, preserving, nurturing, and passing down their artistic legacy. Owing to their invaluable contributions, the people of today are able to stand as rightful inheritors and custodians of the rich and priceless treasury of Myanmar’s cultural arts.

Therefore, veteran artists are urged to leave artistic legacy for new generation artists by nurturing them in order to strengthen and raise the preciousness of the treasury of arts left by ancestor artists of successive eras in accordance with their fine traditions.

May you be able to propagate and enrich traditional cultural fine arts preserved like one own life, to hand down your rich experiences and priceless artistic talents to new generation youths, to serve the interests of the country and the people with your artistic talents by leading a healthy life for more than one hundred years in peace of mind and to continue to offer help in so many future Myanmar traditional cultural performing arts competitions through your artistic talents.

Then, the Senior General presented certificates of honour to Chairperson Daw Thin Thin Myat, who accepted certificates of honour on behalf of the team of judges for singing contests, Chairperson U Aung Tin Win, who accepted certificates of honour on behalf of the team of judges for dancing contests, Secretary U Min Htet Thar, who accepted certificates of honour on behalf of the teams of judges for song composition, Chairman U Saw Win, who accepted certificates of honour on behalf of the team of judges for contests for playing musical instruments, a manager from Magway Region, who accepted certificates of honour on behalf of team managers  from regions and states, and a master of ceremony, who accepted certificates of honour on behalf of masters of ceremonies.

Then, singing contest judge U Tin Oo Lay spoke words of thanks to the Senior General.

Afterward, the Senior General enjoyed dinner together with attendees and contestants.

Before and during the dinner, prize winners in the competitions and artists from the Department of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Myanmar Radio and Television of the Ministry of Information, Myawady Band under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare entertained the guests with music and dances.

Then, as a special program, veteran artists 74-year old re-tired staff officer Sayagyi Pantra U Myint Thein and 76-year old retired professor emeritus of the National University of Arts and Culture (Mandalay) Dr Nu Nu Khin of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and new generation youths, who will preserve the artistic legacy of the veteran artists, including Maung Saw Aung Hein Htway (a) Ell Ell, the first prize winner from Mon State in  dancing contests at the basic education level (aged between 15 and 20 years) and Ma Nang Gaday San Oo, the first prize winner from Yangon Region in dancing contests at the basic education level (aged between 10 and 15 years) performed Thirsarsanhtar romantic dance of love.

Afterward, the Senior General presented honorary cash awards to U Myint Thein and Dr Nu Nu Khin and cordially greeted them.

After the honorary dinner, the Senior General warmly greeted attendees to the dinner.
