Acting President of the Re-public of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by SSPC Secretary Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, members of the entourage, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, the Central Command commander and officials, inspected conservation of the National Kandawgyi Garden in PyinOoLwin this morning.
First, the Senior General heard a report on progress in implementing the directives given by the Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services during his visit to the Gardens on 3 October 2025, preparations to organize the 18th Flower Festival of the Gardens on a grand scale, display of flower plants plot wise, inclusion of song and musical shows for visitors, presented by Director General Dr Thaung Naing Oo of Forestry Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, and Chief Executive Officer U Yazar Htway of the company in charge of the Gardens, and watched a video clip on flower festival song.
Regarding the reports, the Senior General said PyinOoLwin must be a flower city, where all local and foreign flowering are thriving and blooming and are being distributed to other places. As flowers can be exported, flowing plant cultivation must be encouraged in PyinOoLwin, and by using its favourable soil and water resources, the town must be developed in accord with the characteristics of a flower city. Involvement of professionals in systematically developing flower production in the PyinOoLwin area. It is the duty of relevant research teams to conserve local flower strains and improve color, appearance and aroma of the flowers. In addition, they should strive for the thriving and blooming of foreign species in PyinOoLwin area through trial runs. Apart from the places in the Gardens, flowering plants must also be grown besides streets and wards for the pleasantness of the town.
Reforestation of the southern part of PyinOoLwin must be conducted again, while conserving its lushness and greenness and cool and pleasant weather. Circle weeding of roadside trees and the ones in the Gardens must be conducted, alongside the work of ensuring sunlight exposure and ventilation. The Senior General also looked into other requirements.

Subsequently, the Senior General and his delegation toured the National Kandawgyi Gardens in vehicles, inspecting the construction of the mud/swamp walkway, the planting and maintenance of trees and flowers within the gardens, the research and experimental cultivation conducted in the Local Flower Species Research Center and experimental plots, and the condition of the lake walk-ways. Following presentations by the officials, he instructed that efforts must be made to ensure the gardens remain clean, pleasant, and beautiful, and that drainage is good. Regarding the mud/swamp walk-way, he stressed the need to use high-quality wood for the decking since many people will use it, and to ensure it is sturdy and neat. He further instructed that systematic research on local flower species should continue to prolong the life of the plants and flowers and enhance blooming strength, along with providing other necessary guidance.
Following that, the Senior General and his delegation inspected the Kandawgyi circular road and the fence along the walkway, where he instructed that ornamental flowers should be planted along the side of the path, efforts should be made to ensure cleanliness and pleasantness, and necessary arrangements should be carried out to guarantee the safety of pedestrians, along with providing other required guidance.
It is reported that the construction of the Kandawgyi circular road fence and pedestrian walkway was undertaken following instructions given by the Head of State during an inspection in October 2025, involving the renovation and construction of a 1,900-foot-long walkway with a width expanded from 7 feet to 12 feet, along with the fence, and that this renovation allows the general public to safely rest, relax, and walk along the Kandawgyi circular road without the danger of vehicles.
