Nay Pyi Taw December 5
Acting President of the Re-public of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Commission Secretary Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, members of the inspection team, the Man-dalay Region Chief Minister and officials, this morning in-spected the Yadanabon Cyber City project near Pyinsa Village of PyinOoLwin Township.
On arrival at the Yadanabon Teleport building of the project site, the Senior General and party heard reports by Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant on facts about the Yadanabon Myothit project, implementation of the project, construction of residential houses and buildings of the Yadanabon Teleport, construction of roads, water supply, electrification and construction of infrastructures in the project area, invitation of expression of interest-EOI for the project, implementation of the techno-logical industrial zone, running of industries and future plans of the project, and Union Minister for Transport and Communi-cations U Mya Tun Oo on facts about the Yadanabon Myothit project, implementation of the project in phases, administra-tive buildings of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications, facts about the staff housing, build-ings of the Yadanabon Teleport Company Ltd, and matters related to industries in the Soft Base Factories Area.

In his response to the reports, the Senior General said that the Yadanabon Cyber City project was originally implemented as a Silicon Village to support the development of national communication and information technologies. However, during the second democratic govern-ment (2015–2020), the project was transformed into the “New Mandalay Resort City” plan, resulting in the suspension of Yadanabon Cyber City’s ope-rations. Given that today’s era is an IT era, the country must continue advancing technolo-gical development. Therefore,
in addition to the original visions of the Cyber City project, efforts must now also focus on the development of artificial intelli-gence (AI) technologies. The project is intended to support the nation’s IT advancement and serve as a major centre for manufacturing electronic products. Since the site is located near the Technology University (Yadanabon Cyber City), it can be linked with the technological universities and the universities for computer studies in Mandalay, Meiktila, and Kyaukse. This will enable collaboration and provide the necessary human resources for the project.
The Senior Genral added that the government will restart and further develop the Yadanabon Cyber City project, inviting both domestic and foreign investors interested in participating. Necessary land plots will be allocat-ed for genuine investors who intend to carry out actual busin-ess operations. The land plots within the project area that were designated for business operations but remain unused, as well as plots allocated for residential purposes where no housing has been built, will be reviewed and regulated in accordance with existing rules and procedures. Just as the government is working to ensure the successful development of Yadanabon Cyber City, the regional government will also sys-tematically implement mea-sures for the development of the Yadanabon Myothit housing project.

The Senior General and party visited the Yadanabon Myothit Project by car.
At the Technological Univer-sity (Yadanabon Cyber City) under the Advanced Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw reported to the Senior General on construction of the lecture halls, the multipurpose hall, workshops and gymns, giving lectures to students in relevant subjects, and requirements of hostels for students and staff housing for teachers.
After hearding the reports, the Senior General unveiled the plans to construct the student hostels and staff housing for teachers. A plan is underway to supply sufficient drinking water for the university. The Senior General and party viewed round the buildings and facilities of the university in a motor-cade.
