Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by SSPC member Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, SSPC Secretary General Ye Win Oo and members of the entourage, the Yangon Region Chief Minister, the Yangon Command commander, the Yangon mayor and officials, paid respects to Abhidhaja Maha Rahta Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dr. Bhaddanta Nyanisara, State Ovadacariya, Sangha Raja of Shwekyin Gana, Chancellor of Sitagu International Academies, in Sitagu Eye Donation Hospital, Sitagu World Buddhist University, Sitagu International Buddhist Missionary Association, Dagon (North) Township, Yangon Region, this morning.
First, the Senior General, the Prime Minister and the SSPC Secretary wore glasses to the eye patients who had underwent eye surgery at the hospital, and cordially greeted them.
The Senior General and party then cordially conversed with patients waiting for their turn to undergo eye surgery.
Afterwards, they paid homage to the Sitagu Sayadaw. They inquired and consulted on religious matters and listened to the sermons and advice given by the Sayadaw.
Subsequently, the Sitagu Sayadaw presented Dhamma gifts to the Senior General. Following that, the Senior General offered alms of monk requisites to the Sitagu Sayadaw and donated Ks-30 million for the restoration and repair of pagodas and stupas housing the sacred relics of the Buddha, which were damaged due to the impact of the Mandalay earthquake.
It has been reported that at the aforementioned Sitagu International Missionary Association, Sitagu World Buddhist University, and Sitagu Eye Donation Hospital, approximately 1,600 people came for eye examinations for hospital treatment, among whom about 500 required eye surgeries. Free eye surgeries are being provided for the people who need them.
