Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects Advanced War Veterans’ Housing (Mandalay) of Central Command, views carving marble rock into Buddha image

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Central Command and wife, and members, this morning inspected Advanced War Veterans’ Housing (Mandalay) and operation of the garment factory of Central Command.

First, the Senior General and party viewed making military uniforms and production processes at the garment factory of the Advanced War Veterans’ Housing (Mandalay). At the hall of the factory, factory manager U Tin Tun Oo reported on production of the factory. After hearing the reports, the Senior General said it was arranged to create jobs and vocational education for families of war veterans and those of in-service personnel, and urged all to produce high quality products in a systematic manner.

In viewing round the Advanced War Veterans’ Housing (Mandalay), the Senior General and party cordially greeted war veterans and families residing at the housing, asked for daily lifestyle and presented foodstuffs to them.

Afterwards, the Senior General and party viewed preparations to carve 10,890-ton marble rock into the 63 feet high sitting Buddha image. First, the Senior General and party heard a presentation on completion of rough carving condi-tions reported by marble rock well-wisher U Aung Khaing Than and officials. The Senior General made necessary discussions. After viewing the carving of marble rock and excavation of the basic structure rock, the Senior General gave necessary instructions.

The Senior General and  party proceeded to Anandagon Alabaster Sculpture Industry to view carving marble stones into various forms of Buddha images, significant persons, decorations, utensils and Buddha images. He asked for more information and gave advice. The Senior General and party also visited Angelo Mining Co. Ltd (Moe Nat Thar) Marble Slab Workshop.
