Families of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air)hold ninth collective Kathina ceremony

Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held their ninth collective Kathina ceremony at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) this morning. Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hlaattended the ceremony and presented Kathina robes and donations. Present at the ceremony were 72 members of the Sangha led by State Ovadacariya Sayadaws,Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Vicarindabhivamsa of MahaWizitayon monastery of Mandalay and Presiding Patron of MahaWithutayama Zaygon monastery Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Kavisara of Pyinmana.

The Senior General and wife and congregation viewed round the display of Kathina robes and other offertories to be donated to the respective monasteries. The Senior General and wife offered oil lights, water and fruits and meals in the emerald emerald bowl to the Buddha Image in Anawrahta Hall. They then presented Kathina robes and offertories to the Sayadaw of Maha Wizitayon monastery at the separate common room for members of the Sangha.

Then, the ceremony proceeded.The Sayadaws and the congregation led by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe opened the ceremony by reciting Namo Tassa three times. Sayadaw of Kan Oo monastery administered the Nine Precepts. Then, the Sayadaws recited ceremony Metta Sutta. The Vice-Senior General and wife presented Kathina robes and offertories to the Sayadaw of Maha Wizitayon monastery. The Union Minister for Home Affairs and wife, the Union Minister for Defence and wife, the Union Minister for Border Affairs and wife, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air), presented Kathina robes and offertories to Sayadaws. Ganavacaka Lecturer Sayadaws AshinVayama and Ashin Javana of Ye Zin Kan Oo monastery conducted a question and answer session on the Kathina. The Sayadaw of Maha Withutayama Zaygon monastery delivered a sermon.

The congregation shared the merits gained and offered day meal to the Sayadaws. The ninth collective Kathina offering ceremony of the families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) included over Ks- 97 million worth of donations hung on 84 padethabins. The ceremonial procession of the Kathina was held at the family quarters of the officers, other ranks and families on 27 October morning. The padethabins were delivered to the relevant monasteries by cars of the respective offices and units.
