Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, here, this afternoon.

Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Chinese Ambassador was accompanied by Military Attaché Senior Colonel Xiong Shaowei and officials.

At the meeting, they cordially exchanged views that Myanmar and China, being good, old friends and strategic partnership countries, are enhancing bilateral relations with brotherly spirit. Heads of State and chiefs of armed forces from various countries sent messages of felicitations to mark the 93rd foun-ding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army of China which falls on 1 August, and PLA of China took pride of the act of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services of Myanmar Armed Forces for earliest sending his message of felicitations to China’s PLA. They also discussed the history of significant, deep relations between two armed forces and donation of medical supplies by the Myanmar Armed Forces to China for prevention of COVID-19. The Com-munist Party of China and the People’s Liberation Army of China sent medical experts and donated medicines and medical supplies for prevention of COVID-19 to the Myanmar Tatmadaw in addition to exchanging views on disease control and treatment matters. They also focused on efforts of the Tatmadaw for restoring internal peace of Myanmar and understanding and supporting of China for peace efforts of the Tatmadaw. They exchanged views on practically close cooperat-ion between them in ensuring peace and stability in northern area of Myanmar, necessity to join hands in exchange of information and technologies in peace and stability and drug eradication, cooperation in media sector between the two armed forces, and undertakings of the Tatmadaw to cement friendly relations and abide by five-point principles of the Peaceful Coexistence with neighbouring countries while following the foreign policies of Myanmar. They emphasized they did not accept any events leading to wars and conflicts in Asia and ASEAN region with wishes to join hands to peacefully solve the issues for peace and stability of the region. They also discussed that Shwekokko new city project being implemented in Myawady is not totally related to OBOR projects of China and such city project is being implemented by a company in accord with the law and disciplines. And, they exchanged views on further cemen-ting of friendly ties between the two countries and the two armed forces.
