Aids for prevention, treatment and control of COVID-19, hospital equipment donated to Coco Island Township People’s Hospital

The Tatmadaw donates medicines, medical supplies and supplement nutritious foods for contributing to prevention of COVID-19 to specialist hospitals, general hospitals, district hospitals, township hospitals, station hospitals and rural health centres across the nation during the period of COVID-19. This afternoon, Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) donated aids for prevention, treatment and control of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and hospital equipment to the People’s Hospital in Coco Island Township.

Present at the donation ceremony were Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Commander of Yangon Command Brig-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Head of Township Medical Services Department Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Thant Zin and party.

The Senior General and party were welcomed by the medical superintendent and party. The medical superintendent conducted the Senior General round the hospital.

In his speech related to donation of prevention, treatment and control of COVID-19 and hospital equipment, the Senior General said that as Coco Island Township is difficult to have transport facilities, the Tatmadaw gives a helping hand to local people who suffered infectious disease to receive medical tasks on treatment at township level. Today’s ceremony was to make donations so as to contribute to prevention and control of COVID-19. Outbreak of COVID-19 lasts for about seven months as of January and it started in Myanmar on 23 March. Till this morning, number of infected people reached more than 14 million across the world and some 250,000 global people are infected on a daily basis. Although number of infected persons in Myanmar is lesser than those of the world, all need to take care of infection. Infection of disease in Myanmar is mainly based on foreign returnees more than those from local residents. As such, it is necessary make preparations for possible situations to cause outbreak of disease once more. As prevention is better than treatment, all people need to carry out tasks conscientiously. The Tatmadaw is making utmost efforts in carrying out the healthcare services in the entire nation, sending hospital vessels to Coco Island area. It is necessary to cooperate with members of local medical unit for effectively giving health care services to the people of Coco Island area.

The Senior General and Adjutant General Lt-Gen Myo Zaw Thein presented prevention, treatment and control of the disease—2,000 surgical masks, 10 boxes of gloves, 300 sets of OT Gown, 50 boxes of hand wash, 300 face shields, one suction machine, one ultrasound printer, two Bp Cuffs, 300 OT Caps, two Stethoscopes, 100 Goggles, five thermoguns and two Pulse Oxymeters to Medical Superintendent Dr Thant Zin.

The medical superintendent spoke words of thanks. He said he specially thanked the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) for donating aids for prevention, treatment and control of COVID-19 and hospital equipment. Health staff, the Tatmadaw and local people will make utmost efforts for providing health care services to the local people of Coco Island area.

The Senior General and party cordially greeted the medical superintendent and attendees.
