Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives a delegation led by H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee of PRC

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee of the People’s Republic of China at the parlour of Zeyathiri Beikman, here, this morning.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee of the People’s Republic of China was accompanied by high ranking officials and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai.

They frankly discussed promotion of sectorwise cooperation as Myanmar and China, being good and old friends, have been enhancing relationship for 70 years with brotherly spirit, implementation of bilateral agreements on the visit of President H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping to Myanmar in January this year, rapid donating of medical supplies and medicines by the Myanmar Tatmadaw to China for prevention of the disease during the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, sending of medical experts as well as medicines and medical supplies for prevention of the disease by the Communist Party of China and the People’s Liberation Army of China to the Myanmar Tatmadaw and holding meetings to exchange views on preventive, control and treatment measures, cooperative measures of the two armed forces to exchange information about security, stability and peace, rule of law and narcotic drug eradication at border areas between the two countries, needs of enhancing bilateral relations between security troops from border area and those from border area management bodies, needs to sign the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement-NCA which is basic principle of the peace process for ending internal armed conflicts and securing eternal peace, situations for signatories in actively participating in future peace processes, the Tatmadaw’s efforts to suspend military movements in all areas till 30 September for ensuring ceasefire and eternal peace except the areas of the groups declared as terrorists by the State with a view to effectively and rapidly conducting the prevention and control of COVID-19, needs to successfully hold the multi-party democracy election on 8 November 2020 to be free and fair, establishment of a community with sharing future fortune in order to cementing the Paukphaw relationship, and acceleration of cooperation.

After the meeting, the Senior General and Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi exchanged commemorative gifts.
