Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays homage to Laykyun Yanaung Pagoda built on Dipa Ayemya hillock of Maha Myaing Tawya

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and their wives, Commander of North-West Command Maj-Gen Myo Moe Aung and party, this morning paid homage to Laykyun Yanaung Pagoda built on Dipa Ayemya hillock of Maha Myaing Tawya in Kalewa Township in Kalay District of Sagaing Region.

On arrival at Maha Myaing Tawya, the Senior General and party were welcomed by local people from Thitsa Pantaung Village and students from the monastic education school under the leadership of Thebyu Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pannajota of Maha Myaing Tawya.

The Senior General, wife and party offered flowers, water and oil lights to the Buddha image in Laykyun Yanaung Pagoda, paid homage to Thebyu Sayadaw of Maha Myaing Tawya and offered 90 bags of rice, 136 viss of edible oil, 45 viss of salt and 302 viss of gram donated by families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air), personal goods produced from Tatmadaw factories, cash for nine prerequisites and foodstuffs. After taking a sermon delivered by the Sayadaw, the Senior General and party shared merits gained. Afterwards, the Senior General, wife and party donated rice, personal goods produced by Tatmadaw factories and foodstuffs to members of the Sangha led by Thebyu Sayadaw of Maha Myaing Tawya, novices and nuns.

The Senior General, wife and party viewed preparation for building the Buddha images in the precinct of Maha Myaing Tawya by car and paid homage to Aungsekkya Pagoda. Then, day meals were offered to members of the Sangha led by Thebyu Sayadaw of Maha Myaing Tawya and nuns.

In the evening, the Senior General and party went to ShwetaungU Tipitaka Dhamma-pala Maha Wihara Monastery in Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region and paid homage to Presiding Nayaka of Okkan Buddhist Learning Centre Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Nandobhasa and Presiding Nayaka of Yankin Monastery Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Pannavamsa together with members of the Sangha. Then, the Senior General and wife offered 100 bags of rice, 150 viss of edible oil, 50 viss of salt and 335 viss of gram donated by families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and personal goods produced by Tatmadaw factories, cash for nine prerequisites and foodstuffs to the Presiding Nayaka of Okkan Buddhist Learning Centre while senior military officers donated alms to the Presiding Nayaka of Yankin Monastery and members of the Sangha. The Senior General asked after health of the Sayadaw and supplicated propagation of the Buddhism.
