The final rites of Presiding Nayaka of Maha Withutayama Zaygon Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre of Pyinmana in Nay Pyi Taw State Ovada-cariya Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Dr Bhaddanta Kavisara (Sasa-nadhaja Siripavara Dhammaca-riya) who passed away took place at the centre in Pyinmana this afternoon.

The final rites ceremony was attended by members of the Sangha led by Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaw of Thanlyin Minkyaung Monastery Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Sad-dhammajotikadhaja Dr Bhad-danta Candimabhivamsa and Chancellor of Sitagu Internatio-nal Buddhist Academies Abhid-haja Maha Rattha Guru Abhid-haja Agga Saddhammajotika Maha Dhammakathika Bahu-janahitadhara Chair of Shwegyin Nikaya Upa Joint Shwegyin San-gharaja Dr Bhaddanta Nyanis-sara, Chairman of the State AdministrationCouncil Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice-Chairman of the SAC De-puty Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council me-mbers, the secretary and the joint-secretary of the Council, Union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, the com-mander of Nay Pyi Taw Comm-and, disciples and religious ass-ociations.

The Senior General and party took the Five Precepts from Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Than-lyin Minkyaung Monastery Sa-yadaw. The Senior General, the Vice-Senior General, the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture and disciples co-vered the remains of the Saya-daw by diamond velvet.

Joint-Secretary of the SSMNC Nyaungthonbin Sayadaw of Mo-gok Agga Maha Saddhammajo-tikadhaja Agga Maha Gantha-vacaka Pandita Dhammakathika Bahujanahitadhara Dr Bhadd-anta Tejosara Bhivamsa read the message of contrition sent by the State Sangha Maha Nay-aka Committee, Shwe Duwun Sayadaw Ashin Javana of Mogok Yeiktha in Mandalay, the mess-age of contrition sent by the Nay Pyi Taw Area Sangha Nayaka Committee and Pakokku Maha Withutayama Monastery, and the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture on his mes-sage of contrition dedicating to the demise of the Sayadaw.

The Chairman of SAC, the Vice-Chairman and congrega-tion offered alms to members of the Sangha. Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies Dr Bhaddanta Nya-nissara delivered a sermon on contrition and the congregation shared merits gained.

Then, the cultural troupes from the Fine Arts Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture sang the song as paying homage to the remains of the Sayadaw. Next, the disciples requested the late Sayadaw to forget their sins and then finally paid homage.

Next, the master of ceremo-nies requested the conveyance of the remains of the Sayadaw onto the Karaweik decorated float with the Gatha of Abhiya-cana Nimantana. The remains of the Sayadaw was carried onto the decorated float and conveyed to the pagoda festival ground of the Uppatasanti Pagoda where the crematorium is located.

Then, Abhiyacana Nimantana Gatha was recited for the con-veyance of the remains of the Sayadaw to the crematorium and the process went according to the agenda. The Senior Ge-neral, the Vice-Senior General and those in attendance paid homage to the Sayadaw’s re-mains. Members of the Sangha recited three stanzas of Sanve-ga Gatha starting Anicca Vata Sankhara, and Sadhu three times. Then, the remains of the Sayadaw was cremated.

Presiding Nayaka of Zaygon Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre in Pyinmana of Nay Pyi Taw State Ovadacariya Abhid-haja Maha Rattha Guru Dr Bha-ddanta Kavisara served the duty of State Ovadacariya. The Sayadaw established Maha Withutarama Zaygon Monas-tery in Pyinmana as the Pari-yatti Buddhist Learning Centre where the Sayadaw gave lectu-res on Pariyatti literature to some 300 student monks until he passed away. The Sayadaw established U Buddho Tawya Yeiktha where he himself took meditation and gave guidelines of meditation to members of the Sangha and disciples and Yogis. The Sayadaw had served the Pariyatti and Patipatti duties with earnest efforts while ma-naging many branches of the monastery. The Sayadaw, a religious miracle, passed away aged 95 and 75 vasa.

A ceremony to set the ashes of the Sayadaw adrift into the water will be held in Kyitaung Village near the Paunglaung River on 15 June.
