Devotees pay homage to pagodas across states and regions in peace of mind, celebrate Tazaungdaing Lights Festivals on full-moon day of Tazaungmone (Thamanyaphala Akhardaw Day)

As today was the full-moon day of Tazaungmone (Thamanyaphala Akhardaw Day), one of the holiest day of Buddhists, Tazaungdaing Festival or lights festival is annually organized with the aim of preserving a fine tradition of the Myanmar culture.

On such a holiest occasion, Buddhist devotees performed meritorious deeds such as taking the five precepts, reciting paritta desana, offering kathina robes at monasteries, celebrating kathina robe offering ceremonies, and seeking the merits of donation, keeping the five precepts and making pilgrimage to pagodas and stupas in peace of mind.

In preserving and celebrating the Myanmar traditional festival, Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice -Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief celebrated the Tazaungdaing Festival by offering colourful lights, flowers, water, 1,000-pieces of oil lamps in peace of mind at the Shwe Phone Pwint Pagoda in Zeyathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area this evening. Similarly, in commemoration of the festival, as beautiful flowery trees were decorated with colourful lights and funfairs were organized in the compound of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), families of the Commander-in-Chief took part in the event in peace of mind.

The Senior General and party visited the celebration of the festival and greeted the participants.

In the same way, festivals to pay homage to Shin Uppagutta, lights floating ceremonies and Tazaungdaing lights festivals were celebrated at pagodas and stupas in respective states and regions in accordance with the COVID-19 restrictions. The festival events were crowded with the members of the public who visited the festival sites in peace of mind, offered lights and took part in the charity bazaars happily.

Moreover, an entertainment event participated by famous vocalists in the night market festival held in the Nay Pyi Taw Water Fountain Park was crowded with fans. Similarly, as it was the festival holiday, resorts, beaches and public parks in states and regions were crowded with visitors.

Fireworks were set off at the Tabaung Ground near the Upptasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw and People’s Park in Yangon to mark the Tazaungdaing Festival and a large number of the members of the public visited the sites enthusiastically by taking photos as the festival was celebrated in peace of mind in the entire country.
