Opening ceremony of Nay Pyi Taw Technological University held, attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing

The ceremony to open Nay Pyi Taw Technological Uni-versity of Ministry of Science and Technology, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, was held this morning, addressed by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Mini-ster Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Also present were SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Mini-ster Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC members General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Mahn Nyein Maung, Daw Aye Nu Sein, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, U Moung Har, U Sai Lon Hsai, Saw Daniel, Dr Banya Aung Moe, Lt-Gen Soe Htut, U Shwe Kyein and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Union ministers, Union level officials, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, senior military officers, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, invited guests, teachers and students.

SAC member Admiral Tin Aung San, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, and Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Tin Oo Lwin formally opened the university.

The Senior General unveiled the university signboard and sprinkled scented water on the plaque.

Yein troupe of Myanmar Radio and TV staged dances at the assembly hall where the ceremony continued.

In his address, the Senior General said today is significant and auspicious as a modern international level university was commissioned in Nay Pyi Taw to open a new chapter for science and technology sector.

The goal of the university is to bring a lot of benefits to the country by increasing learning opportunities of children of locals and outstanding students from around the country, further extending access to various branches of higher level engineering knowhow, bringing about skilled engineers and supporting the public socioeconomic development.

Government Technological College (Nay Pyi Taw) was upgraded into Nay Pyi Taw Technological University to become a modern education institution like Yangon Technological University and Mandalay Technological University.

Of the 26 courses conducted at the existing technological universities, the country needs skilled human resources to teach civil engineering, electronic engineering, electrical engineering (power), and mechanical engineering, the four most required subjects,  research technology, the largest generator of job opportunities, and architecture a requisite for regional development. At the NPT Technological University, experts will use ICT in dissemi-nating the said six subjects to produce young engineers for the country.

Agriculture is the main production industry of Myanmar and 70 percent of its population is rural people. So, modern agriculture methods are an essential need. Engineering subjects will be much supportive for agroproduction. So, coordinated efforts will be made with the existing Agriculture University in Nay Pyi Taw to uplift the agrosector. Besides, agroengineering will be added to the list of the university’s courses in the coming academic years.

The university will open first year courses (academic year 2022-2023) for students who passed matriculation examination in 2022. It will extend courses year by year till the students reach master’s degree courses and PhD courses. It is a pleasure for the country as a university that will bring about human resources required for national  development  will emerge soon.

The university is equipped with required facilities such as hightech teaching aids, curriculums of international standard, modern teaching aids and modern tutorial rooms, research rooms and libraries. Teaching will be effective with the use of Learning Management System – LMS, which is an application software that can manage lecture and course programmes, evaluate teaching and learning processes and giving reports.

LMS is used as a learning portal at international universities and schools. Now, LMS-based online learning has been in common. Nay Pyi Taw Techno-logical University will also be established based on LMS and Information and Communica-tion Technology (ICT). Students will be turned out as ones having critical thinking and performance skills.

For a country to exist for long and successfully, national economic growth and as well as the morality and good character of its citizens is crucial. For a long-term existence of our country, we must have high edu-cation and capabilities. Besides, it is especially necessary for us to have the spirit of cherishing our country and people and maintaining our dignity and character.

Being able to open such a technological university in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area means having the characteristics of a capital city, producing engineers necessary for the State and contributing towards regional development and socioeconomic development of the people.

The  Senior  General  then urged the officials and faculty members to work hard with their goodwill, professtionalistic and sacrificial spirits for the progress of the university and the students to ardently study the subjects of high standard taught by the university and try  to become  good  citizens serving the interests of their self, region and country.

Afterwards,  artists  from Myanmar Radio and Television of the Ministry of Information and ethnic cultural troupes performed songs and dances. The Senior General and party posed for a group photo together with those in attendance, and cordially greeted the faculty members and students.

The Senior General and party looked round the tutorial rooms, lecture halls, library, language lab, computer rooms and civil and mechanical engineering workshops of the university.

Nay Pyi Taw  Technological University is located in Danatheikdhi Ward, Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council area. Previously, it had been as Government Technological College (Nay Pyi Taw). Under the guidance of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to turn out educated young people skilled in technology required for nation building tasks, it has been upgraded into a university. To provide complete facilities, the university has been equipped with lecture halls, assembly, pedagogical and administrative offices, lecture rooms, tutorial rooms, computer rooms, library and e-library.
