Maravijaya Monastery holds Kathina robe offering ceremony

Kathina robe offering ceremony of Maravijaya Monastery in the compound of Buddha Park of the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory was held at the monastery this morning, attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, who donated Kathina robes and offertories.

Present were Sayadaws led by Patron of Puakmyaing Monastery, Leway, Abhidhja Maharatthaguru Bhaddanta Janinda and Sayadaws of the Maravijaya Monastery. Present together with the Senior General and wife were the SAC Secretary the Joint SAC Secretary and wife, SAC members and wives, union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, senior military officers and wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander and officials.

First, the Senior General offered a meal in the emerald bowl, fruits, flowers and water to the Buddha Image in the monastery.

The Senior General and the congregation looked around the display of donations including robes, and cash and kind for the monastery.

The Senior General and the congregation opened the ceremony by reciting namotassa three times, and received the Five Perspectives from Paukmyaing Sayadaw. Sayadaws recited religious verses.

The Senior General and wife presented Kathina robes and offertories to Paukmyaing Sayadaw and to Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Neminda, the principal of the monastery.

The SAC Secretary, the Joint Secretary and wife, SAC members and wives, senior military officers and wives presented Kathina robes and offertories to Sayadaws.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the congregation listened to the religious discourse delivered by Patron of Pali Tekkatho Mingalazeyon Pariyatti School in Pyinmana, Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi, with reverence.

Merits gained were shared and the principal Sayadaw of Maravijaya Monastery delivered a sermon.

The ceremony concluded with three times recitation of Buddha sasanam ciramtithatu, and the Senior General and wife threw confetti to mark the success of the ceremony.

The Senior General and wife and the congregation offered day meal to Buddhist monks led by Paukmyaing Sayadaw.
