Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing comforts victims of tornado-hit villages in Leway Township and provides necessary assistance

A tornado occurred at Leway Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area at 6.20 pm on 21 April, destroyed 155 homes, one school, one rural dispensary and one monastery in Aungmyingon Village, and 77 homes and one monastery in TadaU Village. Moreover, 113 locals were wounded and another six killed by the twister.

Tatmadawmen of local units, members of Myanmar Police Force and fire brigades, departmental personnel and volunteers were carrying out emergency relief measures and sending the injured to nearby hospitals in the villages hit by the tornado.

Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by SAC Secretary Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dway, union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander and officials, observed the ongoing emergency relief measures and consoled the victims.

At Aungmyingon Village, the Senior General and party met village administrator U Tin Aung and tornado victims and gave words of encouragement and presented cash assistance for the villagers who died in the disaster through the officials. The Senior General urged officials to rebuild the destroyed schools before the start of the new academic year, renovate the monasteries, and establish systematic public housing quarters with necessary assistance provided by Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Nay Pyi Taw Council, and Nay Pyi Taw Command, and to provide emergency food aid and other necessary assistance for tornado victims.

The Senior General and party observed the tornado-hit school, monastery and homes in Aungmyingon Village and urged officials to provide assistance.

At the 1000-bed general hospitalin Nay Pyi Taw, the Senior General and party comforted the warded victims and provided them with food individually and looked into the requirement.
