Senior General Min Aung Hlaing views progress in construction of Thatta Thattaha Maha Bawdi Pagoda

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and party this morning viewed round construction of Thatta Tha-ttaha Maha Bawdi Pagoda in the precinct of Buddha Park near Pan-kwe Village, 15 miles southeast of Kengtung, Shan State (East). Led by Presiding Nayaka of Thila Dhamma Kontha Tawya Monastery (Wasipeik) Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kovida, the Senior General and party arrived at the precinct of Buddha Park where they viewed carving of Buddha images to be kept in the precinct and the view point. The Senior General view-ed round construction of Thatta Thattaha Maha Bawdi Pagoda being built by Thila Dhamma Kontha Tawya Monastery (Wasipeik), and construction of four Samvejaniya places such as the giving birth of the Embryo Buddha in Lumbhini Park, the preaching of the Lord Buddha on Dhammacakka Sutta to five disciple monks (Pancavaggi), and the attainment of the Lord Buddha in Parinivanna at Sal Park of Kusinayon city.

The Senior General gave necessary instructions and attended to the needs. Afterwards, they viewed round cultivation of trees and flowery plants in the Buddha Park. After paying homage to Abhaya Raja Muni Buddha Image, they offered flowers and water and viewed round it clockwise. Abhaya Raja Muni Buddha Image was built in the precinct of Buddha Park with the aim of ensuring peace and tranquility in eastern region of Shan State, cementing Theravada Buddhism and attracting local and foreign pilgrims to be able to contribute towards regional development.

Thatta Thattaha Maha Bawdi Pagoda will be built in design of Maha Bawdi Pagoda in Bodh Gaya in India. It will be 108 feet high. The monuments of the Lord Buddha in four Samvejaniya places are under construction with collective dona-tions of families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and well-wishers. This morning, the Senior General and party led by Thila Dhamma Kontha Tawya Monastery (Wasi-peik) Sayadaw released 17,000 rohu fingerlings and more than 62 viss of assorted fish alive from Kengtung town market into Keng-phawng Creek in Kengtung.
