Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives delegation led by Special Envoy of Japanese Government for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and President of Nippon Foundation of Japan

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by H.E. Mr. Yohei SASAKAWA, SpecialEnvoy of the Japanese Government for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and President of NipponFoundation of Japan, at  the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this afternoon.

Also present together with theSenior General were Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and senior military officers from the Office of the Commanderin- Chief (Army). H.E. Mr. Yohei SASAKAWA was accompanied by Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Ichiro MARU YAMA and members.

They cordially discussed the Covid -19 outbreak situation,Tatmadaw’s active participation in Covid-19 preventive, controland treatment measures, providing of medical supplies for the disease prevention, control and treatment to the required places including ethnic areas and organizations with two-month cash donations from Tatmadaw members and Tatmadawappointed civilian staff by cutting one-day portion of their salaries and one-year cash donations from senior military officers by cutting 25 percent of their salaries, providing of rations such as rice, cooking oil and gram to the townshipsof Yangon Region facing food shortages, warm welcome to theJapanese observers for the 2020 multi-party democracy general election, successful holding of the election, ensuring of a free and fair election, Tatmadaw’s assistance in ensuring votes to be freely cast, gratitude to Japan forits assistance in successful holdingof the election, required technology to be provided by Japan in reviving socio-economy and agriculture and livestock breeding sectors in the post-election period and the post Covid-19 period, the Tatmadaw being on the right track to the NCA regarding internal armed conflict, Tatmadaw’s unilateral ceasefire in all the areas except the places of terrorism as declared by the State in accord with the international standards due to the existence of terrorist organizations, and further promotion of bilateral friendship and cooperation.
