Delegation led by Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing arrives in Novosibirsk, visits Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Higher Military Command School, Russian Academy of Science (Siberian Branch)

The delegation led by Chair-man of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Military Attaché Commodore Kyaw Soe Moe and officials, left Kazan airport of Republic of the Tatarstan for Novosibirsk on 26 June evening of local standard time and were seen off at the airport by officials.

On arrival at Tolmachevo airport of Novosibirsk, the Senior General and party were wel-comed by Deputy Governor of Siberian Region Mr. Petuhov Yuri Frogravich and officials.

They then went to Polschad Marksa station, one of the 13 metro stations of Novosibirsk.

They rode the metro train from the station, opened in 1991, to Lenin Square station. They studied the metro system and stations along the way.

At the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, located near Marriott Hotel where they would temporarily stay, Mr. Vroskly Valen Arka-gievich, advisor of the theatre administrative board, presented a report on construction of the theatre in 1931. He continued to say that it was com-missioned into service on 12 May 1945. It was scheduled to be commissioned in 1941, but could not be opened because of World War II. It was opened only after 9 May 1945 when the WWII ended. It is the largest theatre in Russia and one of the world’s largest theatres. He also explained the salient points of the theatre. The Senior General asked for more information.

The Senior General and party visited Higher Military Command School in the morning.

They were welcomed by Com-mandant Colonel Markochin Segeri Gregorivich and officials. They then laid wreaths and saluted the statues erected in honour of heroes who sacrificed their lives in the service of the country.

Both parties were introduced to each other at the school hall.The commandant presented the brief history of the school, academic matters and the attendance of foreign scholars. Officials conducted the Senior General and party round the main lecture halls for military intelli-gence and security subjects, exhibition rooms, teaching and learning aids, exhibition on international military gear, scouting aids devised by the trainees, lecture hall for diving, trainees practicing small arms shooting with the help of simulators. On arrival at the simulator hall of firing small weapons, the Senior General, senior military officers, delegation members and women officers took part in the shooting practice.

The Senior General and party cordially conversed with the outstanding trainees from global countries and posed for a group documentary photo with them.

The Senior General and the delegation viewed round the Higher Military Command School by car, went to the shooting range and studied the activities. During the visit, the commandant and officials and trainees of the school displayed the use of small arms and various snipers, and the Senior General, senior military officers, members of the delegation and women offi-cers took part in the exercises.

Then, the Senior General and the commandant held discussions at the hall of the training school and exchanged com-memorative badges and gifts.

The Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School in Novosibirsk Academgorodok was established in 1976 as the Novosibirsk Higher Military Political School-NVVPOU and was the Siberian branch of the organi-zation that emphasized physics and mathematics. It became a major military affairs education academy in 1980s. The academy has been conducting courses on capacity enhancing for combat readiness, administration and supports of batta-lions and units, management of operations, the use of various weapons and military vehicles as well as airborne operations, mountain warfare, paratrooping and underground and underwater secret attacks. In 2015, the academy was awarded autonomy in academic and management sectors with the decision of the University Council and known as Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School.

In the evening, the Senior General and the delegation visited the Russian Academy of Science (Siberian Branch), where they were welcomed by scientists led by Vice-Chairman Academician Dr Vasily M. FOMIN and officials. At the meeting hall, they explained science and technology, emer-gence of scholars in research and other respective fields, conducting of lectures and coope-ration in academic affairs, conducting of joint research between the government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Russian Science Academy and sending of trainees. The Senior General asked for more information and introduced doctor of science degree holders and PhD degree hol-ders who studied in Russia to Russian military engineer cadet officers.

Then, the Senior General and delegation members were conducted round the research booths in science and techno-logy and explained subjects of chemistry, physics, applied mathematics, information tech-nology, biology, Nano techno-logical innovations, geological findings and science books written by successive Russian scientists by the scientists led by Vice-Chairman Academi-cian Dr Vasily M. FOMIN and officials. The Senior General asked what he wanted to know.

The Senior General signed the guest book and exchanged gifts with academician Dr Vasily M. FOMIN before posing for a documentary photo.

Later, the Senior General and delegation had luncheon hosted by Acting Commander of Division 41 Col Perepelisa Vladimir Angrevich and the deputy mayor of Novosibirsk. During the lunch, the music band of the Novosibirsk station and the troupe of artistes per-formed traditional songs and dances. The Senior General presented them with cash awards.
