Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays homage to Myatshinmaw Pagoda, views construction of Annawashinmaw Pagoda

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commanderin- Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military offi cers from the Offi ce of the Commander-in-Chief, the Commander of Coastal Region Command and offi cials, paid homage to Myatshinmaw Pagoda which is one of nine pagodas with the title of Shin in Launglon Township in Taninthayi Region this morning.

First, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party paid homage to the pagoda and offered fl owers and water to it. After that, the Senior General and wife donated cash to the fund of the pagoda through a member of the Pagoda Board of Trustees. Then, the Senior General and party paid homage to the tooth relic of Buddha near Andawmyat Pagoda and Kyauknimaw monastery Sayadaw Ashin Nemida aged 92 and donated offertories and cash to be spent for nine prerequisities.

Afterwards,Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party viewed the construction of Annawashinmaw Pagoda dedicated to offi cers, other ranks and family members who were killed in the Tatmadaw Y-8 military transport plane crash on June 7, 2017. After hearing the report presented by an offi cial on the construction of the pagoda, the Senior General left necessary instructions.

The Senior General and wife and the family, senior military officers and their wives donated cash for construction of the pagoda. Afterwards, the Senior General and party looked around the construction of pagoda where offi cials conducted them round. The Annawashinmaw Pagoda is being constructed near historic Shinkoeshin Myatmawshin Pagoda with cash donations made by families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and public well-wishers in remembrance of the offi cers and other ranks who were killed in the crash of military transport plane Y-8.

The Senior General and party arrive at Thiri Annawa Monastery in Sanhlan Village where they paid homage and presented offertories to Abbot Sayadaw U Sumana. Chief of Staff (Navy) Rear -Admiral Moe Aung reported on earnest assistance given by village people and social organizations in the rescue efforts after the plane crash.

The Senior General said local people from Dawei Township actively participated in the Y-8 plane crash in Sanhlan Village while the village people and aid organizations rendered major assistance in rescue work. Families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) expressed heart-felt thanks for such assistance, and efforts will be made for the development of Sanhlan region.

The Senior General presented gift foods for the local villagers to the village administrator who in turn spoke words of thanks. The Senior General and party cordially greeted the local people. They then went round in the village and left instructions on regional development.
