Tatmadawmen are to perform their duties for the country as citizen and serviceman as they are born of the people

Tatmadawmen have a duty to perform their duties for the country as a citizen and a serviceman as they are born of the people. To perform these duties, the Tatmadaw has created a better condition for food, accommodation and uniform of each serviceman. In addition, the Tatmadaw has made arrangements for accommodation when they take retirement as much as it can, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at a meeting with officers, other ranks and their families in Hpa-an Station this afternoon.

Also present at the meeting were Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Hsan Oo, Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Nyo Saw and senior military officers from the Office of Commander-in-Chief, Commander of South-East Command Maj-Gen Myo Moe Aung and officers, other ranks and their families from Hpa-an Station.

In his speech, the Senior General said the Tatmadaw represents the country. The main duty of Tatmadaw is to defend the country. To perform this duty, efforts are being made to build a Standard Army. The Tatmadaw has to make a lot of reforms to become a Standard Army. The Tatmadaw must have organizing power and administrative power in addition to military power. Only then, will Tatmadaw become the one equipped with power and skill. Tatmadawmen at the different levels must be proficient in military art and can use arms proficiently. In addition, the Tatmadaw has built libraries in respective units to expand the scope of their knowledge and provided them with necessary books and publications. The Tatmadaw also is carrying out the frequent publication of books and journals for Tatmadawmen and their families as much as it can. In addition, the Tatmadaw is working to promote the education standard of Tatmadawmen, their families and children. The Tatmadaw honoured outstanding children of Tatmadaw and veteran families. The Senior General urged Tatmadawmen to encourage education of their children as they could give education to their children as legacy.

Officers and other ranks will be good servicemen, officers and leaders only when they can perform their duties happily and ardently. The Tatmadaw has set policies for the happiness of Tatmadawmen and think about rank promotion for them. In addition, the Tatmadaw takes action against those who break rules. Military units themselves are to carry out healthy and sanitation works. Officers are to carry out the systematic management of their duties and administrative works over subordinates.

All Tatmadawmen must have military power. For that, Tatmadawmen must be healthy and fit by taking training. Tatmadawmen need to do physical exercise every day. In addition, the military-owned agricultural and breeding businesses are intended for the welfare of Tatmadaw family members. Tatmadawmen are to carry out small-scale farming and breeding for their families. Only then, will it help support the happiness of Tatmadawmen.

Afterwards, the Senior General presented foodstuff for officers, other ranks and their families through the station commander.

After that, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Hsan Oo and Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Nyo Saw also presented foodstuff, sports gear, books and journals via officials.

After the meeting, the Senior General and party cordially greeted officers, other ranks and their families.

The Senior General and party then proceeded to Tatmadaw Hospital in Mawlamyine. Then, the Senior General inspected the upgrading of drainage system due to the floods in the first week of June and left necessary instructions and attended to the need after hearing the reports presented by officials.
