Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army, Navy and Air) hold 8th Maha communal Kathina donation ceremony

As the 8th Maha communal Kathina donation ceremony of families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air)took place at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) this morning,Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the ceremony to donate Kathina robes and offerings.

First, the Senior General and wife together with congregation viewed round Kathina robes, offertories and tree-shaped donations called Padethabin displayed at Anawrahta Hall for donating them to monasteries.The Senior General and wife offered oil lights, water, fruits and alms in the emerald alms-bowl to the Buddha Image in the hall.

The 8th donation ceremony was attended by 72 members of the Sangha led by Abbot of Maha Withutayama Zaygon Monastery from Pyinmana State Ovadacariya Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Kavisara and Abbot of Maha Wizitayon Monastery from Mandalay Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Vicarindabhivamsa, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief(Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Union Ministers and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the Chief of Myanmar Police Force and wife, officers, other ranks and families from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.

The congregation led by the Senior General took the Nine Precepts from Presiding Nayaka of Yezin KanU Pariyatti Monastery from Zeyathiri Township Sasanadhaja Dhammacariya Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Vilasa. They also took Metta Sutta recited by members of the Sangha.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla offered Kathina Ñat robes and offertories to the abbot of Maha Wizitayon Monastery.

Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe also donated Kathina robe and alms to the abbot of Zaygon Monastery.

Afterwards, the Union Minister for Home Affairs and wife, the Union Minister for Defence and wife, the Union Minister for Border Affairs and wife, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife and the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife presented Kathina robes and offerings to members of the Sangha.

Senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) and the Chief of Myanmar Police Force donated Kathina robes and alms to members of the Sangha. Next, Ganavacaka lecturers Ashin Vayama and Ashin Javana of Yezin KanU Monastery joined the question and answer session on Kathina affairs.

The Senior General and party took a sermon on Kathina affairs delivered by the abbot of Maha Withutayama Zaygon Monastery of Pyinmana and shared merits gained in all donations. After the ceremony, the Senior General and party offered meals to members of the Sangha.

Today’s 8th Maha communal Kathina donation comprised 76 tree-shaped donations called Padethabin worth more than Ks-100 million donated by offices and departments. The tree-shaped donations were sent to respective monasteries by vehicle.

On the morning of 8 November, the tree-shaped donations called Padethabin of families of offices and departments to be donated to monasteries were conveyed round the housings of officers, other ranks and families.
