Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivers speech to officers, other ranks, families of Pathein Station in South-West Command

Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech to officers, other ranks and families of Pathein Station in South-West Command at the Ayeyawady Hall of the command this morning.

Also present together with the Senior General were wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Commander Brig-Gen Kyi Khaing of South-West Command, officials and officers, other ranks and families of Pathein Station.

Tatmadaw and leadership role of national politics

In his speech, the Senior General discussed voting irregularities in the 2020 multi-party general election, assumption of State duties by the Tatmadaw by declaring a state of political emergency due to attempts to seize State power illegally without settling voting disputes in accordance with the law, extension of the state of emergency for another six months in the entire country on 1 August, 2023 as terrorist acts are still going on although the SAC government has been exerting efforts for all-round development of the country during its term, implementation of tasks by adopting a five-point roadmap and nine objectives during the extended period, preparations for holding a multiparty general election, measures taken with the objective of handing over power to the government emerged after holding a free and fair multi-party general election which will be held after implementing provisions of the state of emergency, changes in the constitutional system in successive eras and the leadership role the Tatmadaw has to play in national politics.

Youths instilled with five strengths must be nurtured for the future of the country

The Senior General continued that the newly adopted five-point roadmap and nine objectives must be studied comprehensively and everyone must play their roles assigned for successful implementation of them. Among the objectives, one has been adopted for the role of youths. It is necessary to nurture outstanding youth who are instilled with five strengths such as physical, intellectual, moral, relational and economic ones to perform the duty for the future of the country. Youths play an important role in the future development of the country and measures must be taken to nurture national leaders who can steer the future of the country. Only when youths are trained and nurtured to become ones with good morals and intellectual development, will the future country be strong. Due to weaknesses of the former education system and management, the education of students has suffered. As high standards of education contribute a lot to development of the country, the government has been encouraging and implementing measures related to high standards of education since its assumption of state duties. Anticipating the long-term interests of the country, the roadmap and objectives have been adopted. Officers, other ranks and families are urged to try to understand the essence and expectations of the roadmap and objectives and to implement them as much as one can.

Performing national defence duties and measures taken to build capable and powerful Tatmadaw

In connection with the affairs of the Tatmadaw, its major duty is to defend the country from dangers that undermine the sovereignty of the country and to safeguard the national interests of its citizens. Although every armed forces in the international community is to defend the country from foreign threats and the police force is to tackle internal armed violence and conflicts, the Tatmadaw has to address internal armed conflicts and security of lives and property of the people together with the police force under historical conditions of the country.

Efforts are being made to build the capable and powerful Tatmadaw. As training duties must be performed properly to enhance the capabilities of individual personnel to upgrade the capabilities of the Tatmadaw, personnel are always required to take part in training and exercises to enhance their individual capabilities. Measures have been taken to provide food and shelters as much as possible for the health and fitness of all Tatmadaw personnel. In connection with intellectual capabilities, training courses are being conducted not only for military science but also for respective fields of study. Physical exercises must always be done for the health and fitness of individual personnel.

In performing respective duties, officers and other ranks are required to carry out their duties successfully and concerted efforts must be made to build the capable and powerful Tatmadaw with the performance and efforts of individual personnel. In conclusion, the Senior General urged all to cooperate for the development of the youth sector or future of the country as much as possible and asked officers, other ranks and families about their needs.

Then, the Senior General presented foodstuffs for officers, other ranks and families to the commander while the wife of the Senior General presented cash rewards for the station maternal and child welfare association to the wife of the commander.

After the meeting, the Senior General and party cordially greeted officers, other ranks and families who attended the meeting.

Then, the Senior General and party inspected battalions and units in Pathein Station by car.
