Myanmar high-level delegation led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends the 80th Anniversary Victory Day military parade

The Russian Federation held the  80th Anniversary  Victory Day military parade of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) at the Red Square in Moscow, this morning. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the Victory Day celebrations together with the heads of states and officials of other countries.

On arrival at the Senate Place of the Kremlin, the Senior General and heads of states of global countries were warmly welcomed by President of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Putin. Accompanied by the Russian President, the Senior General, heads of states and officials proceeded to the observation stage of the 80th Anniversary Victory Day military parade of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

The ceremony began with Commander-in-Chief (Army) of Russia, Army General Oleg Salukov, taking position and the Kremlin Clock chiming ten, followed by the launching of the military parade and the saluting of the Russian Flag and Russian Victory Day Flag.

Then Minister of Defence of Russia Mr. Andrei Ramovich Belousov arrived at the ceremony, took the salute of the parade columns and inspected them by a motorcar. While the minister was  delivering  an  address honouring the 80th Anniversary Victory Day, parade columns chanted “Oora” (victory) three times. A one-minute silence was observed in honour of the heroes who fell in the Great Patriotic War and heroes who sacrificed lives for Russia.

Afterward, H.E. Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the Supre-me Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, delivered an address in honour of the 80th Anni-versary Victory Day military parade of the Great Patriotic War.  After  the  address, the parade columns chanted “Oora” three times and military band played the national anthem of the Russian Federation, followed by a gun salute.

The parade columns, compri-sing those of the international community, led by the Commander-in-Chief (Army) of Russia marched past the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, and they were followed by mechanized troops including those from tank, armored, artillery, air defence, and strategic intercontinental ballistic missile corps, while air force jets paid an aerial salute. The parade columns then sang the song commemorating the Victory Day to the accompaniment of the military band and left the venue.

After the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, greeted the leaders of the parade columns of Russia and other countries.

After the parade, the Senior General and heads of states of global countries and officials proceeded to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located near the Kremlin Walls, on foot and waved at the attendees of the Victory Day military parade.

Accompanied by the Russian President, the Senior General and heads of states of other global countries and officials arri-ved at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and laid wreaths. the Russian President, the Senior General and heads of states of other global countries and officials posed for documentary photos.

The Senior General and heads of states and officials of other countries visited the office building of President Putin at the Kremlin and together, they enjoyed the luncheon hosted by the Russian President.

While  attending the  80th Anniversary Victory Day mili-tary parade of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and related events today, the Senior General cordially met with heads of states and officials of other countries and held bilateral discussions on promotion of diplomatic relations, friendship and cooperation between the countries.

The Soviet Union entered World War II on 22 June 1941 and launched the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) to ward off the invasion of Nazi Germany. WWII ended after signing the Ger-man Instrument of Surrender in Berlin, Germany, on 9 May morning 1945. At 2 am on 9 May 1945, when the people of the Soviet Union came to know that Nazi Germany lost the War, they sang songs and danced to the accompaniment of musical instruments, displa-yed fireworks, fired thousands of guns into the air 36 times, and happily celebrated the Victory Day with dances. The Soviet Union declared 9 May a public holiday and Victory Day to commemorate the victory over Nazi Germany. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the 9th May Victory Day has become the most popular celebration and public holiday in the Russian Federation since its 60th Anniversary in 2005 and the country has been holding military parades in commemoration of the Victory Day of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). Military troops of the relevant countries are also taking part in the military parade. At this 80th Anniver-sary, troops from Myanmar took part in the Victory Day military parade for the first time together with their inter-national counterparts.
