A ceremony to mark the 78th Anniversary of Martyrs’ Day 2025 took place at the Martyrs’ Mausoleum in Bahan Township of Yangon at 8 am on 19 July, attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who paid tribute to the Martyrs.
At the ceremony, State-owned media raised questions to the Senior General. The replies of the Senior General were reported as follows: –
“General Aung San led the struggle for Myanmar’s independence, and after achieving independence, he envisioned building Myanmar into a nation that could stand proudly on an equal footing with the rest of the world. This vision is clearly reflected in many of his speeches. It is now the responsibility of all Myanmar citizens to work together toward realizing that goal. As we join hands in this effort, it is important that we act with unity and a genuine commitment to the betterment of our country. General Aung San and his comrades sacrificed their lives for this cause. Furthermore, the true value of a country lies in its independence, and beyond that, in its development and progress. However, this must be achieved through a system based on discipline and order. Without such discipline, if things are done haphazardly and without structure, it can pose a danger to the nation. That is why I want to emphasize that all citizens and all national brethren must move forward together in unity and solidarity, following the path envisioned by General Aung San.”
