Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing holds talks with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held talks with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Presidential Palace of Kazakhstan this afternoon.

The Senior General was welcomed by the Guard of Honour on arrival at the Presidential Palace, and then, warmly welcomed by the President of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was held at the parlour of the Palace,and also present together with the Senior General were SSPC Secretary Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, SSPC member Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, union ministers, U Nyan Tun and U Ko Ko Lwin, Myanmar Ambassador to Russia U Thit Linn Ohn and officials. The President of Kazakhstan was accompanied by Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Mr. KOSHE-RBAYEV Yermek Bedelbayevich and heads of the government.

At the meeting, the Kazakhstan President extended a warm welcome to the Senior General and delegation. He said Your Excellency is the first Myanmar leader to visit Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is aware of Myanmar’s unique history and culture and its geographically important location, and it is ready to establish economic cooperation with Myanmar, which is a country lying in the south of Southeast Asia. A view from Russia shows that Kazakhstan is a country that can offer the best logistic services. The President expressed the belief that cooperation between Myanmar and Kazakhstan will open a corridor of cooperation not only with Russia, but also with the Southeast Asian countries.

Following this, the Senior General said that he was grateful for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the delegation he leads. He also expressed his delight at being able to witness firsthand the development and beauty of their friendly nation, Kazakhstan, since his arrival. He stated that his visit aims to enhance relations and cooperation between the two countries and to exchange views, and he believes that meetings and discussions like this will serve as an impetus to strengthen bilateral relations and enable practical implementation of cooperative activities. Although the two countries are geographically distant, he said they are friendly nations, and he expressed a desire to enhance close cooperation in various mutually beneficial sectors.

Subsequently, the Senior General and the President of Kazakhstan held a friendly exchange of views and discussion on matters related to enhancing cooperation in a wide range of sectors. These included trade and commerce, agriculture, transport of goods, oil, natural gas and mining, as well as the sector of political changes and developments in Myanmar.

Following this, the high-level Myanmar delegation, led by the Senior General, attended a working luncheon hosted by the President of Kazakhstan and joined him for lunch.

During the luncheon, the Acting President and Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the President of Kazakhstan continued their exchange of views and discussion on matters related to promoting friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

After the luncheon, the Senior General and the President of Kazakhstan exchanged commemorative gifts.

Afterwards, the Senior General and the delegation members departed from the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Presi-dent of Kazakhstan accompanied them to their vehicles and bid them farewell in a warm and friendly manner.
