Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by officials, inspected rural development and reconstruction undertakings in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area this morning and looked into the requirements.

Construction of People’s Square and entertainment square near City Hall and Pyinmana-Taungnyo eight-lane highway

The Senior General arrived at the construction site of the People’s Square and entertainment square and Pyinmana-Taungnyo eight-lane highway, and heard a report on progress of work presented by Un-ion Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair U Than Tun Oo and officials.

In response, the Senior General spoke of the need to organize Myanmar traditional festivals and important ceremonies at the People’s Square and entertainment square, to draw designs that include erection of the statues of the famous persons of the Myanmar history and the monuments related to the nation, to take into account the sustainability, disaster-resilience and strongness in systematically conducting the construction work stage by stage. He said building quality inspectors should help systematize the stages of the construction work.

The Senior General looked around the construction site of People’s Square and entertainment square and looked into the requirements.

Accompanied by officials, the Senior General arrived at the planned construction site of the entrance archway of Nay Pyi Taw on Yazathingaha Street and gave guidance on the project.

From Yazathingaha Street the Senior General looked around the Nay Pyi Taw Airport Road, old Yangon-Mandalay Road, and Nay Pyi Taw City in a motorcade, and stressed the requirement of constant activities for the cleanness and beautification of the road-sides.

Stage for grand processions

Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party proceeded to the stage for grand processions, examined the  earthquake-affected damaged parts, and gave instructions on upgrading the stage and its façade and other matters.

Progress in repairing the buildings in the compound of Hluttaw

The Senior General and party inspected the progress in repairing the damaged buildings in the compound of Hluttaw.

On arrival at the No 1 entrance bridge of the Hluttaw, he heard a report on the progress in re-storing the bridge, presented by the Union Minister for Construction and officials. They said that a bridge had five trusses, that each one weighed about 1,500 tons and that the total weight of the bridge was 7,500 tons and that it was lifted and repaired with 3D synchronized jacks.

After giving instructions, the Senior General inspected the progress in restoring the bridge and the archway and Pyidaungsu Hluttaw building, and looked into the requirements.

Later, the minister reported on the extent of damage caused by the earthquake to the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw, other buildings, roads and bridges, fences and retaining walls in the compound of the parliament and progress in repairing them according to priority list.

In response, the Senior General stressed the need to systematically carry out the resto-ration work, under a stage-by-state program, for their strength and sustainability. He said just having handsomeness is not enough, as the buildings need strength. Damages, restoration activities and progress must be systematically recorded.

The Senior General and party looked around the buildings in the Hluttaw compound that were under repair.
