Families of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) hold Maha Communal Kathina ceremony for 2025

Families of Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held the Maha Communal Kathina ceremony for 2025 this morning at Anawratha Hall of Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), attended by Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Commander-in-Chief of De-fence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, who donated kathina robes and offertories.

Present were 27 Sayadaws led by Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Patron of Minkyaung Pahtamaby-anpariyatti school in Thanlyin Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candiama Bhivamsa, Secretary of SSMNC Patron of Masoeyein Taikthit monastery Sayadaw of Dhamma Thamaindi Pariyatti school Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Maha Dhamma Kahtika Bahujana Hitadhara Bhaddanta Vaselabhivamsa and Oavadacariya Sayadaws of Board of Trustees of Uppatasanti Pagoda. Also attended the ceremony together with the Senior General and wife were SSPC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, SSPC member Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Kyaw Swa Lin and wife, union level dignitaries and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, officers, other ranks and families.

The Senior General and wife and attendees looked around the kathina robes and offertories hung on decorated stands. The Senior General paid homage and presented a meal in Emerald Bowl, flowers, water and lights to Buddha Image in the Anawrahta Hall.

According to the agenda, the congregation opened the ceremony by reciting namotassa three times and received the Nine Precepts from the SSMNC Chairman Sayadaw.

Sayadaws recited religious sermons. The Senior General and wife presented kathina robes to Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Vilasa of Yezin KanU monastery, the kathina offerings recipient monastery, in Zeyathiri Town-ship and kathina robes and offertories to the SSMNC Chairman Sayadaw.

The Vice-Senior General and wife presented kathina robes and offertories to SSMNC Secretary Sayadaw.

Union level dignitaries and wives, the SSPC member and wife, and senior military officers and wives presented kathina robes and offertories to Sayadaws.

The Senior General and wife and the congregation revered the two Sayadaws of Yezin KanU monastery conducting a kathina question and answer session.

The SSMNC Secretary Sayadaw delivered a sermon and merits gained were shared.

After concluding the ceremony with the recitation of Buddha sasanam ciramtithatu three times, the Senior General and wife and the congregation offered day meal to Sayadaws led by the SSMNC Chairman Sayadaw.

The decorated stands where kathina robes and offertories were hung were conveyed from Anawrahta Hall in the compound of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) to Uppatasanti Pagoda in a motorcade on 27 October.

The relevant departments and sections of Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) donated 90 decorated stands with Ks- 170,840,810 worth of in-kinds and Ks-125,053,450 worth of cash, totalling Ks-295,894,260 at the ceremony and transported the donations to the relevant monasteries by car.
