Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives delegation led by Special Envoy of ASEAN Chair to Myanmar Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines

A  delegation  led by  Special Envoy of ASEAN Chair to Myanmar Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines H.E. Ms. Maria Theresa Parreno Lazaro paid a courtesy call on Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the parlour of Office of the National Defence and Security Council here this afternoon.

Also present at the call together with the Senior General were SSPC Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SSPC member Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win. The special envoy was accompanied by officials of the Embassy of the Philippines in Myanmar.

At the call, views on the best cooperative efforts exerted by Myanmar in the ASEAN, improving diplomatic relations bet-ween Myanmar and Philippines, the inevitable assumption of the duties of the State due to the attempts to illegally grab the State power after the erroneous election in 2020, Myanmar’s latest political developments, preparations to hold a free and fair election and to compile a correct voter list, successful holding of the first phase of the election on 28 December 2025, and the holding of the Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the election in the remaining townships, the monitoring of the Phase 1 by international observers and the involvement of the Philippines in the task, positive remarks in connection with the election, the objective of the election that was to safeguard the democratic rights of the entire Myanmar people, promotion of cooperation in political, economic and trade sectors between Myanmar and Philippines, Myanmar’s efforts to further promote its cooperation in the ASEAN till reaching its climax were cordially exchanged.

After the call, the Senior General and the special envoy exchanged commemorative gifts and posed for documentary photos together with the attendees.
