A ceremony to inaugurate the Convocation Hall (multipurpose hall) of Naypyitaw State Academy took place at NSA in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, this morning, addressed by Acting President of the Republic of theUnion of Myanmar Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Also present were Vice Chair-man of SSPC Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SSPC member Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, SSPC Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SSPC members, union ministers and union level dignitaries, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, region/state chief ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries of the Ministry of Education, directors general, rectors from universities, deputy directors general, faculty members and students of NSA.
On arrival at the NSA, the Senior General was welcomed by officials.
The Senior General and party looked around the ethnic food stalls.

Vice Chairman of SSPC Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SSPC member Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, SSPC Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein and Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant formally inaugurated the Convocation Hall (multipurpose hall)of Naypyitaw State Academy.

Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing then unveiled the plaque of the Convocation Hall (multipurpose hall) and sprinkled scented water on it.
The Senior General looked around the hall and looked into the requirements presented by officials.
At the second part of the ceremony, female students of the academy performed a dance number to the accompaniment of the song “Naypyitaw State Academy”.
The Senior General and attendees watched a documentary on the development of NSA.

In his address, the Senior General said the existence of advanced institutions of higher learning like the Naypyitaw State Academy and Naypyitaw State Polytechnic University in Nay Pyi Taw, the capital of the nation, enhances its splendor and its image as an educational city where advanced knowledge is disseminated.
The State is promoting the education sector with the aim of reaching a pleasant and prosperous future built with intellectuals who are well-versed in educational and technological knowledge, and with this aim, the Naypyitaw State Academy was commissioned into service on 9 November 2022. The NSA is the country’s first comprehensive university where multiple subjects including arts, science, economics, law, medical science, social science, diplomatic affairs and sports are taught.

NSA is the leading university that will bring about professionals that will improve the socio-economic life of the nation. As its motto “Wisdom is the supreme force” the NSA will become a university that will relay the essence of knowledge, while placing the intellectual power in the fore.
He noted that previously, Nay Pyi Taw only hosted universities for agriculture, livestock, and forestry. He stated that now, the children of civil servants and citizens from across the country, including Nay Pyi Taw, can conveniently access and pursue higher education not only at existing vocational universities but also at Naypyitaw State Academy and Naypyitaw State Polytechnic University.
He stated that the Convocation Hall (multipurpose hall) of the Naypyitaw State Academy, which produces fine human resources—graduates who are endowed with knowledge, skills, and noble hearts—was ceremoniously opened today.
Also, he stated that a convocation hall is a sacred place where certificates are conferred to recognize the completion of a level of university education, serving as a milestone of success in the learning journey. He added that it is also a magnificent hall where a university’s dignity, academic reputation, and fine historical traditions are enshrined as a record of honor.
He then stated that the unique feature of this convocation hall is that its design was chosen by the students themselves through a voting system, and it was constructed according to the design that received the most votes. He noted that through such activities, he wished to promote the role of youth participation and train them to acquire good democratic practices. He added that he felt proud and joyful as 230 graduating students will soon be conferred their degrees for the first time in this convocation hall.
He emphasized that the development of a country primarily depends on high-quality human resources. He noted that only by training youths to be educatio-nally visionary, to have correct beliefs and convictions, and to possess good character while being capable of serving the public interest, can a peaceful and modern nation be built. Therefore, he added that it is necessary to produce a large number of qualified graduates who are endowed with knowledge, skills, and ethics.
He stated that education is a vital and highly valuable fundamental quality for the nation, as it can elevate an individual’s personality, character, and convictions. He added that the analytical and problem-solving skills gained through education will greatly contribute to various sectors, including politics, economy, defence, and administration.
Also, he stated that a university is a hallowed ground that produces high-quality human resources, as well as a place where innovative technology-based research is initiated. He noted that universities play a vital role in improving the sectors targeted by the State, such as agriculture, livestock, and manufacturing, and in enhancing the socio-economic lives of the people.
He stated that since the opening of Naypyitaw State Academy over three years ago, modern teaching aids, international-level laboratories, and reference books have been fully provided to effectively implement a student-centered teaching and learning system. He added that to fulfill the characteristics of a university, lecture halls, dormitories, a convocation hall, a library, a recreation center, sports grounds, faculty housing, and staff housing are being provided. Furthermore, trees and flowers have been planted for a green university campus, and arrangements will continue to ensure that students can peacefully and happily enjoy their university life while pursuing higher education.
He stated that to provide opportunities for pursuing high-quality university education at Naypyitaw State Academy, seven major faculties—the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Social Science, and Faculty of Sports Science—have been established, offering undergraduate courses, Master’s qualifying courses, and Master’s degree programs. He noted that while the academy began with 12 specialized majors at its opening, it has now expanded to 24 specialized majors. These include Industrial Chemistry and Nuclear Physics to enhance the creative capacity of youth; Tourism and Hospitality Management, Sociology, and Library and Information Science, which are vital for the country’s socio-economic development; and subjects such as Diplomacy, which can promote and represent the nation’s image on the global stage.
The Senior General stressed the need to conduct research works as the lifeblood of the university in addition to extending the majoring subjects to be taught. Conducting the research is an investment for enhancement of socio-economic life of the citizens, education and health standard as well as adopting the research result based policies.
The Naypyitaw State Academy encourages paper-reading sessions and research projects of students which can create an environment of research for professionals while managing youth talk shows, exhibitions and contests, on-job observation plans, job opportuity shows and talks to enhance the capacity of youth with high critical thinking. As such, youth students will have chance to secure degree as well as job opportunities in order to build a good socio-economic life through the partnership linkage between the university and industry.
The long-term existence of a university depends much on correct and effective leader-ships of the management level authorities, high quality faculty members, adorablity and hard-working efforts of students for their university, and high capacity of staff. So, the Senior General urged all to strive for the university to be able to stall tall as a world-class university for many years while preserving the prestige of Naypyitaw State Academy. The Senior General urged that students be trained and nurtured to become a new generation of young people who are well equipped with know-ledge, skills, and moral integrity, and who possess a strong sense of responsibility and accountability, and that efforts be made to produce educated graduates capable of leading the nation—individuals who have genuine patriotism, high morale, discipline, and a full foundation of knowledge and skills.
The Senior General warmly expressed delight that the Naypyitaw State Academy’s Convocation Hall has been opened in such a grand and vibrant manner with exhibitions and festivities, and voiced their confident hope that the graduates who will emerge year after year from this convocation precinct will become worthy and capable citizens on whom the State can rely and who can shoulder responsibilities for the benefit of the nation and its people. The Senior General also expressed his earnest wish that this Convocation Hall will continue to produce outstanding and well-rounded intellectuals—talented and virtuous scholars endowed with comprehensive knowledge and skills, as well as strength of character—who can help build a better future society for Myanmar and enable the country to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world.
The Union Minister for Edu-cation presented a gift to mark the opening of Convocation Hall (multipurpose hall) to the Senior General.
The Union Minister for Construction handed over documents related to the Convocation Hall (multipurpose hall) to the Union Minister for Education.
The Union Minister for Education spoke words of appreciation. Students from the National University of Arts and Culture under the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, vocalists from the Fine Arts Department, well-known vocalists and students from the Naypyitaw State Academy presented songs, performances and choral dances. The Senior General and party enjoyed their performances.
The Senior General presented a flower basket and cash awards to those who performed entertainments and cordially greeted them.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and party observed the job opportunity booths and gave necessary guidance to officials.
The Convocation Hall (multipurpose hall) of the Naypyitaw State Academy was built under the guidance of the Head of State. It is a building with 302 feet in length and 218 feet in width. It is a structure of more than 167,000 square feet of area, and it is a three-storey RC building. The hall aims to accommodate 1,204 attendees to enjoy convodation ceremonies as well as other ceremonies and entertainments.
