The opening ceremony of 2026 79th Anniversary Union Day Commemorative Union-level MSME Product Fair and Market Festival took place at Nay Pyi Taw Square this morning, attended by Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who formally opened it.
Also present on the occasion together with the Senior General were Vice Chairman of SSPC Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SSPC member Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, SSPC Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SSPC members, union ministers, union level dignitaries, region/state chief ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, MSME agency chairs from regions and states, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, heads of department, officials of organizations and exhibitions, ethnic cultural dance troupes, honoured guests and local people.
The Senior General and party arrived at the venue and were warmly welcomed by officials. SSPC Vice Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SSPC member Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Union Ministers, Dr. Kan Zaw, U Hla Moe, Dr. Charlie Than, U Chit Swe, and Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair U Than Tun Oo formally opened the fair and the festival.

Acting President of the Re-public of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing then formally unveiled the decorated archway of the fair and festival.
The Senior General and attendees enjoyed the dances of ethnic cultural troupes staged to the accompaniment of the song “Towards the industrial products fair” honouring the fair and the festival.
The Senior General and attendees looked around the booths of union ministries and region/state booths that dis-played local products and sales rooms of the fair and festival with keen interest. They also asked for more information from the exhibition officials.
The 2026 79th Anniversary Commemorative Union-level MSME Product Fair and Market Festival is held with the aim of improving socio-economic life of citizens, manufacturing value-added goods based on agricultural raw materials, supporting and promoting the local economy by encouraging domestic production, reducing imports and producing import-substitute goods, developing local businesses and generating job opportunities, providing support and encouragement for the success of one region one product (OROP) programs, establishing closer connections between MSMEs and local/foreign investors. Apart from economic progress, the fair and the festival will generate bene-fits, which are, closer relations, unity and mutual assistance between entrepreneurs from different places, while enabling entrepreneurs to conduct cultural exchanges, knowledge sharing, establish strong market links, and set up connections with foreign markets through value adding of local goods.

The union-level fair and festival has over 120 booths including ministry booths, booths displaying MSME products of regions and states and Nay Pyi Taw, shops selling ethnic foods, business matching rooms, technological booths, farm machinery booths, booths of cottage industries and cooperatives, booths of associations and organizations, booths exhibiting solar farms, and SKD electric cars, motorcycles and tricycles, garment product booths, company booths. The fair and the festival goes on till 13 February and it will host entertainment programs stag-ed by well-known artistes. It is open to all.
