Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives Chinese Special Envoy for Asian Affairs Mr. Sun Guoxiang

Nay Pyi Taw, January 22

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Mr. Sun Guoxiang,Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China,at Bayintnaung Parlour here this morning.

The two had frank discussions on actions of the government and Tatmadaw and China’s assistance to achieve permanent peace in Myanmar; China’s support for Tatmadaw’s ceasefire declaration on 21 December, 2018; and China’s denouncing of AA insurgents’ attacks on border guard police outposts in Rakhine State as it is an unacceptable, irresponsible act.

Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Than Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), and the Chinese envoy was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Hong Liang, Military Attaché Senior Colonel Xiong Shaowei and concerned officials.
