Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays respects to remains of Maha Myatmuni Sayadaw

Leading Patron of Maha Myatmuni Phayagyi Monastery in Macaohkam Ward, Tachilek, Shan State (East) Sayadaw Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Pannasami passed away at 9.40 pm on 7th waxing day of Myanmar month Tawthalin,1381 ME.

The remains of the Sayadaw are placed at the monastery. Led by Leading Patron of Thila Dhamma Kontha Tawya Monastery (Wasipeik) Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kovida, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and party paid respects to the Sayadaw’s remains. First, the Senior General wrote in the book of condolences, expressing deep regret for the loss of the Sayadaw. He also stated that the demise of the Sayadaw is a great loss for the religion not only for Tachilek region, but also for the Shan State and the nation. In expressing his condolences, the Senior General also promised to embrace and safeguard the religion in recognition of the efforts for protection and conservation of the Sasana.

The Senior General and party then paid respects to the remains of the Sayadaw and made cash donations through the officials. The Senior General then discussed the final rites arrangements and looked into the requirements.

The final rites will be held at Ponloh cemetery in Wanlone village-tract, Tachilek on 3rd waxing of Myanmar month Tazaungmone, 1381 ME.
