State Administration Council Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends monsoon tree-planting ceremony as environmental greening campaign 2021, plants star-flower sapling

A monsoon tree-planting ceremony took place as environmental greening movement 2021 at Plot No (17) of Pozaung mountain forest reserve beside Nay Pyi Taw-Tatkon Road No (1) in Ottarathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, at 7.30 am today, and State Administration Council Chairman Commander- in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing graced the ceremony and planted a star-flower sapling.

Also present were council members General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, General Maung Maung Kyaw, U Moung Har, U Sai Lone Hsai, Saw Daniel, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and U Shwe Kyein, joint secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union Chief Justice U Tun Tun Oo, Union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, deputy ministers and officials.

At the ceremony, the senior General planted the star-flower sapling in the designated place.

Next, the council members and joint secretary, Union ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, deputy ministers and officials planted their saplings in their designated places.

Then, the Senior General viewed the nurturing of saplings at Plot No (17) of Pozaung mountain forest reserve.

At today’s ceremony, 16 kinds of saplings were planted such as star-flower, teak, Pyinkadoe, Padauk, Tamalan, Yinma, Hsithabye, Thinwin, Sit, Yamanay, Thabye, Lesa, Yaythagyi, Matakut, Maulettanshe and Pyaukseik. The forest reserve has an area of 8,517.09 acres with 51 plots where over 20 kinds of trees are grown.

In the monsoon tree-planting ceremony as environmental greening movement 2017, 72.88 million saplings were planted nationwide and 59.02 million survived accounting for 80.9 percent. In the monsoon tree-planting ceremony as environmental greening movement 2018, 73.22 million saplings were planted nationwide and 62.32 million survived accounting for 85.11 percent.

In the monsoon tree-planting ceremony as environmental greening movement 2019, 68.79 million saplings were planted nationwide and 58.48 million survived accounting for 85.01 percent. In the monsoon treeplanting ceremony as environmental greening movement 2020, 68.86 million saplings were planted nationwide and 57.81 million survived accounting for 83.96 percent. In this year’s monsoon tree-planting ceremony as environmental greening movement 2021, it is targeted to plant 36.26 million saplings nationwide.
