As every human being needs warmth and kindness, measures must be taken to enable elderly people to lead life of kindness

Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, accompanied by entourage and wives, Chief Minister of Rakhine State U Htein Lin, the commander of Western Command and officials, donated supplementary nutrient food and consumer products for senior citizens at the home for the elderly in Sittwe this morning.

First, the Senior General and wife and entourage were welcomed by Chairman U Shwe Tun Aung of the Committee for the Home for the Elderly and the chairman reported to the Senior General on the brief history of the home for the elderly, provision of food, accommodation and healthcare services, donations from the public and the government and the need to construct a ward for patients at the prayer hall of the home for the elderly.

After hearing the reports, the Senior General raised questions of interest and gave instructions on support for the health, accommodation and food of the elderly people to the chief minister, the commander and responsible officials.

 

 

Then, the Senior General extended greetings, saying it is a meritorious deed to take care of the elderly not only in Buddhism but also in other religions. It is necessary for the elderly to accept that it is the best time in their life and do meritorious deeds peacefully. Every human being needs warmth and kindness and measures must be taken to enable the elderly to lead a life of warmth and kindness.

Mental health can contribute to physical health and I am glad to see that the elderly are healthy.

Then, the Senior General and wife presented supplementary nutrient food and consumer products to the elderly individually and warmly greeted them.

Afterward, the entourage and wives presented supplementary nutrient food and consumer products to the elderly.

Then, Daw Ma Saw Khaing, aged 93, spoke words of thanks on behalf of the elderly, saying she would like to express thanks to the Senior General and wife for donating supplementary nutrient food and consumer products for the elderly personally.

Then, the Senior General signed the guest book of the home for the elderly.

Afterward, the Senior General and party inspected the wards of the elderly and gave instructions on fulfilling the needs of the elderly before greeting the elderly who cannot attend the event for health reasons.

Then, the Senior General and wife presented cash collected donations to the chairman of the home for the elderly, who presented a certificate of honour to the Senior General.

The home for the elderly of Rakhine State was founded in Thinganet Village in 1984 and later moved to Danyawadi (A) ward on Mayu Road in Sittwe in 1997. The home for the elderly hosts nine male elderly and 32 female elderly and the oldest female elderly is 93 years old and the oldest male elderly is 86 years old. Food, accommodation, health, social needs are being provided.
