Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic  of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects  Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon), Ministers’ Office (the Secretariat), and Yangon Region High Court

Chairman of the State Security  and  Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Joint Executive Chief of the National Defence and Security Council General Ye Win Oo and members  of  the  entourage, and the Yangon Region Chief Minister and officials, inspected the displays and restoration of Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon) in Bahan Township, Ministers’ Office (the Secretariat) in Botahtaung  Township, and Yangon Region High Court in Kyauktada Township, Yangon Region this morning.

Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon)

The Senior General and party arrived at the Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs  and Culture  in  Bahan Township and were conducted round the booths that displayed the General Aung San’s car which was under repair, brief history of the museum, documentary photos and portraits, statue of General Aung San, photos and documentaries of his life as a child, a university student, a politician, a Tatmadaw leader, a national leader and a family man, personal items, his costumes or personal items shown in the parlour, special meeting room, bedroom and library, paintings, photos, furniture, books he read, books on his historical achievements published throughout the successive periods, by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin and officials.

Regarding the reports, the Senior General said General Aung San’s car must be maintained with technicians for its sustainability. He then spoke of the need to further improve the resolution of the historical photos through modern methods, systematically install powerlines, ensure reader-friendliness of the excerpts of his historical speeches, clear under-growth of the trees of either side of the road and keep the compound free from any garbage.

Afterward, the Senior General and party inspected the lake and the site where General Aung San cultivated edible crops along the ring road in the compound and restored the lake in accord with its original shape. He said visitors to the museum must be systematically recorded and the visitors who are recognized as significant ones such as 100th or 1000th visitors should be congratulated with appropriate gifts.

The former home of General Aung  San, the architect of Myanmar’s independence, was turned into a museum. The house built in 1921 is a European style building and mixture of western architectural designs. General Aung San lived  with  his family in the house from May 1945 till he was assassinated in July 1947. It showcases the parlour, dining room, bedroom, reading room, children’s bedroom, special meeting room, prayer room, the plantation where he grew crops during his free time, the English made Wolseley car he used to ride and documentary photos.

Ministers’ Office (Secretariat)

The  Senior  General  and party visited the Ministers’ Office (Secretariat) building in Botahtaung Township. They inspected the historical records, documentary evidence, and photographs displayed inside the building, as well as the maintenance of the hluttaw hall. Officials provided detailed explanations on the exhibits and preservation efforts.

Regarding the presentations, the Senior General emphasized the need to use modern techno-logy to enhance the clarity and precision of the displayed historical photographs and documents. He also instructed that captions for photographs and artifacts should follow proper spelling and grammar for easy readability and understanding. Additionally, he stressed the importance of adhering to original designs in restoration work and addressed other necessary improvements.

Later, the Senior General and party toured the Ministers’ Office building, inspecting the General’s Office and the meeting hall where the assassination of the General and national leaders was reenacted. They also examined the photo gallery displaying historical images and the exhibition hall featuring historical evidence. Officials provided further explanations on the preservation efforts.

Following the briefing, the Senior General directed that the meeting hall should maintain its original arrangement, depicting the assassination scene of the General and national leaders, as well as the location where General Aung San held office. He also instructed that historical photographs should be labeled clearly and that additional archival photos should be compiled for display. Given the building’s historical significance, he emphasized the need for continuous preservation in line with its original design. Further-more, he suggested consulting veteran journalists and writers to ensure historical accuracy and instructed experts to conduct systematic research to address structural weaknesses in certain parts of the building.

Yangon Region High Court

Subsequently, the Senior General and his entourage visited the Yangon Region High Court building, inspecting the offices, library, courtrooms, and the High Court Museum. The Chief Justice of the Yangon Region High Court and officials accompanied them and provided explanations.

After the briefing, the Senior General noted that the Yangon Region High Court is a heritage building and should be preserved without altering its original structure. He highlighted that the building is an attraction for foreign tourists and thus requires long-term maintenance to ensure its durability. He also instructed that cleanliness and aesthetic improvements should be systematically carried out.
