Nay Pyi Taw October 19
Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met officers, other ranks and families of Pathein Station at Ayeyawady Hall of the South-West Command Headquarters this morning.
The meeting was also attend-ed by Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Senior General, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, and officers, other ranks and families of the station.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said that the Tatmadaw is an institution established to defend the nation against both internal and external threats. Therefore, it must be a capable and strong armed force that can effectively safeguard the country. Like-wise, it must also be a Tatmadaw that earns the full trust and reliance of the people. Tatmadaw members serving in various regions should work in unity with local residents to effectively ensure regional security, stability, and peace.
In accordance with the Constitution, the Tatmadaw assumed the responsibilities of the State in 2021 due to the circum-stances of the nation. During that period, protests had escalated into violent attacks, which the Tatmadaw had to control and manage. At present, the country has largely regained stability and peace, and the Tatmadaw continues its efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability nationwide. It was also mentioned that, as the country proceeds along the path of democracy, the Tatmadaw is carrying out necessary preparations to hold a free and fair multiparty democratic general election.
Each member of the Tatmadaw should diligently carry out their duties without negligence, including daily general staff, adjutant and quartermaster tasks, and must strictly follow orders and instructions, as doing so contributes to making the Tatmadaw a disciplined and capable force. They should avoid, as much as possible, indulgence in drinking, smoking, and other habits that could harm their lives and wellbeing. With the mindset of being a good Tatmadaw member, they must maintain proper conduct and live in accordance with military discipline — from their dress and appearance to their behaviour and daily activities.
Just as the Tatmadaw is making efforts to ensure the comfort and well-being of officers, other ranks, and their families, officers, other ranks and families should also strive, to the best of their ability, to successfully carry out agriculture and live-stock breeding activities within military-owned areas. To effectively implement measures that support the welfare of officers, other ranks and families, administrators at every level must manage and supervise systematically. While serving in the Tatmadaw, each individual should also work collectively to contribute to the betterment of the force.
As the country has long been weak in industrial production, natural resources have been continuously extracted and used over generations. There-fore, since the country already has a foundation in agriculture and livestock breeding, members of the Tatmadaw should assist local people in their respective areas to enhance production in these sectors. By doing so, the nation will be able to increase its output of goods and contribute to the improvement of the national economy.
If armed terrorist act continues to cause instability, it will be impossible to carry out economic activities. Therefore, it is essential to put an end to armed terrorism and restore peace and stability in the regions. The Tatmadaw must be built into a capable and strong force, working for the interests of the nation, the Tatmadaw it-self, and the local communities.
The Senior General present-ed foodstuff for officers, other ranks and families of the station to the commander while the wife of the Senior General gave the cash award for the station maternal and child welfare association through the wife of the commander.
After the meeting, the Senior General, his wife and party cordially greeted officers, other ranks and families.
At the local Tatmadaw hospital, the Senior General comfort-ed officers and other ranks who sustained injuries during serving the defence and security duties of the State and asked them about their injuries and healing conditions individually. After hearing their reports, the Senior General attended to their needs.
The Senior General asked about requirements of the hospital and fulfilled the needs.
The wife of the Senior General also comforted family members of officers and other ranks who receiving medical treatments at the hospital, cordially asked about their health conditions and presented foodstuffs.
