On behalf of the Government and the people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and on my own behalf, I extend my warm felicitations and sincere best wishes to Your Excellency and to the people of Myanmar on the special occasion of the 78th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Sri Lanka and Myanmar share a long-standing friendship rooted in Theravada Buddhism and shared cultural values, which has been further strengthened by the spirit of solidarity and cooperation between our two countries, particularly during times of need.
I am confident that the friendly relations between our two nations will continue to grow in the years ahead, to the mutual benefit of our peoples.
