SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects the Paper Mill (Thabaung)

Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing  accompanied by entourage members, visited and inspected the Myanmar Economic Corporation’s Paper Mill (Thabaung) this evening.

First, responsible officials briefed the Senior General in the factory’s briefing hall. The briefing covered a summary of the factory’s history, the implementation status of the instructions given by the Acting President and SSPC Chairman, factory-related data and staff appointments, comparative year-on-year financial data including revenue, expenditure, and profit/loss, the production and distribution of newsprint, the production process and ongoing output at the 60-ton newsprint paper mill, the advanced paper production process and trial production at the 50-ton advanced paper mill, the trial production of bamboo pulp at the 60-ton bamboo pulp mill, the production process and ongoing output at the 40-ton fuel pellet mill, and the status of ongoing efforts to implement future goals and responsibilities.

In response to the briefing, the Senior General noted that the nation annually imports various types of paper needed domestically. Therefore, successfully developing paper production industries can reduce these imports and save foreign currency expenditures. Cultivating trees and bamboo to  meet the demand for industrial raw materials like wood and bamboo can also help environ-mental conservation and create job opportunities for local communities. He emphasized the importance of securing the basic requirement for paper production pulp supply and instructed continued efforts to produce high-quality paper, along with other necessary guidance.

Afterwards, the Senior General and his entourage inspected each factory individually. They observed the multi-stage process at the bamboo pulp production mill involving crushing bamboo raw materials, steam cooking, bleaching, and the stages of obtaining pulp. They also inspected the multi-stage advanced paper production process and the produced advanced paper at the 50-ton advanced paper mill, the multi-stage newsprint production process at the 60-ton newsprint paper mill, and the multi-stage fuel pellet production process at the energy fuel pellet mill. Then, he provided necessary guidance based on the reports from the responsible officials.
