Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visits Myanma Theravada Buddha Vihara Monastery, pays homage to Sitagu Sayadaw

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, currently in the Russian Federation, accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Ko Ko Shein, Maj-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Maj-Gen Soe Win from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army)and senior military officers, visited Myanma Theravada Buddha Vihara Monastery in Moscow, this morning.

First, the Senior General and party paid homage to the Buddha image in the monastery.Next, they paid homage to Shwegyin Nikaya Upa Chairman Maha Nayaka Joint Shwegyin Sangharaja Chancellor of Sitagu World Buddhist Academies Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru Agga Mahasaddamma Jotikadhaja Maha Dhammakathika Bahujana Hitadhara Sitagu Sayadaw Bhaddanta Nyanissara, who is in Russia on a missionary visit. Sitagu Sayadaw gave advice on necessary measures for long-term maintenance and durability of Myanma Theravada Buddha Vihara Monastery. The Senior General supplicated on assistance to be rendered for the maintenance of the monastery.

Then, the Sitagu Sayadaw and the Senior General discussed construction for Dhammayon in the precinct of Myanma Theravada Buddha Vihara Monastery, arrangements for extending the monastery, a plan to build Shwezigon replica pagoda in the park of World Multicultural Museum, construction of a Buddha Image with Dhammacakka Mudra in style of Bagan era in the compound of Atharada religious park and religious affairs.

The Senior General offered Waso robe and alms to the Sitagu Sayadaw and senior military officers, Waso robes to members of the Sangha. The Senior General donated cash to the fund for construction of the Dhammayon to the board of trustees. Then,they offered day meals to the Sitagu Sayadaw and members of the Sangha. Afterwards, the Senior General viewed the sites for construction of the Dhammayon and extending the monastery where officials conducted them round the sites.
