Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by H.E. Mr. Sergey SHOIGU, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, at the Credentials Hall of the Office of National Defence and Security Council this morning.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were SSPC Secretary General Ye Win Oo, union ministers and officials. The Russian Security Council Secretary was accompanied by Ambassador of Russian Federation to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Iskander Azizov and the Russian government officials.
During the talks, the Senior General extended a warm welcome to His Excellency, the Russian Security Council Secretary, and his delegation. In his greetings, the Senior General said the country had successfully held the multi-party democracy general election in three phases beginning from 28 December 2025. Today, the final list of the elected candidates will be announced and the Hluttaw session will be convened in the third week of March. The arrival of the delegation after the successful completion of the election in Myanmar has a profound meaning. During the visit, the two countries will be able to promote bilateral friendship and cooperation.
In his discussions, the Russian Security Council Secretary expressed thanks for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation. He then expressed his wish to present the message of honour sent by H.E. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of Russian Federation, for the success in holding the multi-party democracy general election in Myanmar in person. He said the Russian Federation has recognized Myanmar’s successful holding of the election amidst the many difficulties. Multiple cooperation between the two countries will be further enhanced.
Afterward, views on the scene of the people enthusiastically casting vote at the free and fair multi-party democracy general election in Myanmar witnessed by the international election monitoring teams, including the one from Russia, Myanmar government’s endeavours for achieving internal peace, Russia’s lasting memory on the participation of Myanmar Tatmadaw at the military parade in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the history of anti-fascist revolution between the two countries that are similar to one another, further promotion of bilateral cooperation in security issues, including cyber security and information security, Myanmar’s launching of anti-online scam and gambling operations as a national task and joint operations against the illegal business, enhancement of cooperation in economic, trade, electricity generation, space technology, and education sectors were cordially exchanged.
After the call, Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation exchanged commemorative gifts and posed for documentary photos.
